That is what I thought, but couldn’t find anything which confirmed it was a rule. The arcane language of the EFL and the fact that there is no index, makes it difficult to locate the actual wording.

There’s a large dose of realism in that interview Dave, probably being realistic it’s too late for a charge, but plenty of optimism for the next campaign.

It does seem this appointment has been on the go for quite a number of days? Perhaps I’m overthinking. Did you notice the times he used “ We”, which I took to mean Rupp, Sparks and
“ others” outside the existing club? Again it may be me?

Yeah - looks like Bass has lost it a bit - first couple of games good positioning, good catching and good reflex saves. Since then he has left his area and left the goal exposed on a couple of occasions, and possibly been warned about it? Now he seems reluctant to get out of the 6 yard box even when he should. Careful what you wish for tho - could be ROD back between the sticks at this rate.

I've met Hughes a few times (box and aftermatch drinks in Cardiff as part of the Worthington's beer sponsorship for the national team) and he comes across as a quiet, thoughtful, thinking sort of guy. What he does have in spades, is presence. You can't help but think about his Man Utd and Barcelona days when he's stood in front of you, and it's pretty awe inspiring. I think Sparks must have been rolling on the floor asking for his tummy tickled the first time he met him. The interview must have been a formality. I just hope Sparks didn't go all giddy like he has done with his past appointments, and promise the world in terms of Chairman backing, financial support and all other stuff he's made up before. Hughes won't stick around long once he realises he's been stitched up.

Giddy Sparks has only been here for just over a year and Adams was his only outside appointment

Trueman should go back to youth management or the link up.

Hughes will bring his own team in.

Am I right in thinking, that the last Welsh manager we had was Yorath? I seem to remember Leighton James doing something with us - maybe taking charge as an interim manager for some reason, but I can't be sure. Lets hope Hughes is better than Terry.

Looks like I'm late to the party. On paper it looks a decent appointment, a guy with a history in the game to rival anyone and a managerial career. That said, I'm not getting that excited knowing that Sparks and Rupp are still at the helm of the ship.
I'll reserve judgement until I see the quality of player brought in to the club next season.

Hughes does have an aura about him similar to Gerrard. He is a man of few words at times, he is quiet and at times get’s his message across with eye contact and body language. Not the warmest but most players look for his approval. Would love to hear his thoughts after training tomorrow.

A softly spoken man, but an absolute warrior on the pitch. Proper old school, hard as nails.

If the club don’t back this manager, with his experience and contacts, we’ll never back anyone.

Blimey couldn't have predicted that very surprised hes agreed to come to a league 2 club I can only believe that he must have been given assurances regarding available money come next season. When I think about it not a bad chance for him no ones really expecting too much this season now and come the summer he has the chance to basically start from scratch. Massive name for this level one that you would think the players will respect, fans can get behind and would think has caused a few other clubs at this level to sit up and take notice.

Fair play to Sparks and Rupp on the face of it looks a good appointment for loads of reasons good luck to him

If Trueman is forced on Hughes as a number 2, hope will fade quickly. He needs to be allowed to bring his own team in.
