Why would he leave a club on the up to join the basket case that is Bradford City? They may only be a village team but they are being bankrolled a la Fleetwood and may have the same ambitions.

Whereas our aim next season is to stay solvent and keep our place in the EFL.

 

No, we have to approach the club first for permission to speak to manager. Even if he jacks, and comes to us, we would still have to pay compo.

I’m slowly resigning myself to the fact we won’t stay in league one.

Drury in charge Saturday, be surprised if we get anything.

Then will we get the right manager for the rest of the season or go cheap? And then will we get the new manager bounce or will we take weeks to take on board new ideas?

However I don’t think you can deny the amount we have spent this season. It’s been wasted but it would dwarf any budget we have had in previous seasons. So I’d term that current spending g

 

I’ve answered this already. On the up currently but not guaranteed a play off spot yet. And will they win in the play offs? Who knows? They seem to have a switched on owner which would be a plus for some but who’s to say if they start badly next season they won’t sack him?

Managers know that it’s a fickle business. If he is interested and we are I wouldn’t say our clubs “swapping places” would bother him too much.

 

I think it's very easy for us fans to see our club in the worst possible state after what has happened over the last 2 years. I think from the outside the club still looks a very good place to try build your reputation and do something good. The fan base, the ground, the facilities are all superior to most in league 1. The mad man isn't here anymore, the club is trying to turn it around off the pitch and on the pitch the players that we currently have in Payne, Ball, O'Brien, Doyle, Miller, O'Donnell, Caddis, Clarke, Butterfield are all worthy of playing in League 1, some say higher for a couple of them. There won't be many clubs paying more for players like Payne in our league. If used properly they should be playing attractive, offensive football and finishing mid table but for whatever reason (tactics/formation/hoofball/negative management) the players aren't responding to the manager.

For someone coming in I still feel its an attractive place to be.

That could be the same, less, or more with new/same owners I may be wrong but i pretty much doubt Mr Rupp (or whoever)would make that mistake again.
To attract a manager of the calibre we all want we need to know exactly what the owners (Mr Rahic included ??)
have planned otherwise i fear we may have more of the same

 

A lot of managers still want full control over recruitment and staff etc.

At a lot of clubs you don’t get that anymore and that is usually a sticking point for managers at a lower level.

Definitely, plus we wouldn't have Payne, O'Brien, Ball, Butterfield and Miller to pay for which would instantly reduce the wage bill and even if we used half that budget would still be one of the higher wage budgets for league 2.

It's all relative to the league you are in. If you're in League 2 you have to expect to manage a budget within that league, ours I think would still be in the top 2 or 3 of the league so it's still very competitive compared to most.
