Okay. Maybe a bit harsh on Reeves but it was an accurate description for McCarten and poleon.

I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion Patrick 'clearly has talent'. Aside from his 2 spectacular goals, his general all round game is terrible. He's 22, so how long do you persevere with him. If he doesn't make it this year, he never will.

Based on what? He was signed based on a good 6 months scoring 5 or 6 free kicks in league 2. He couldn't get into our side at its worst and has shown nothing to justify 200k

 

He showed enough at Accrington to be followed by dozens of scouts. And he was the only player including Wyke who attracted any interest in January. I agree he didn’t have a good season but with an extended run in the team in a position that suits him I think he will come good that’s if he is not sold before

 

I don't believe you. Even if they all took a 40% drop, their wage bill would still be £15m.

Even if you spread that out over 40 professionals, that's an average weekly wage of over £7k a week.

It doesn't add up that the top earner is on only £10k a week, with a £15m budget.

As previouly stated, Graham had several clubs including Celtic chasing him. You don't turn Celtic down for £10k a week at Blackburn.

 

You don't have to believe me I just know that was said last summer on several fronts. As for Graham regardless of any Celtic interest he was still contracted to Blackburn so that doesn't make a blind bit of difference

 

Last season we had a terrible run with injuries and the players who were suppose to cover for the injured players were not up for it, take 13/14 out of the playing squad and it was very weak, that was the reason the likes of Robinson, Patrick, Gibson, Brunker, Hawke got game time, we were short on numbers.

 

Interesting but would be good to know where they get their information. As I say mine is from somebody at the club who I trust. Doesn’t make any difference to us though as we’ll never pay that at the moment.

I promise you, he will come good this season. You can see he is a good footballer, let’s just wait and see on him. I would be very disappointed if he was to go.

 

I didn't see too much in him, when I saw him play. Lots of energy, but lack physical presence, and doesn't look to get into space with runs much.

Given plenty of opportunities but didn't take them. A fringe player at most - albeit an expensive one. I'm hoping Grayson left some notes for our new coach to read.

That's what the chicken owners said at the time. What they didn't say was that a very large percentage of their academy funding comes through a trust fund started by Jack Walker which no owner can touch. I know this because a relative is reliant on their academy and was afraid that it would be heavily cut once they were relegated.

 

If McCartan is 'shite', how come Northern Ireland have recalled him recently. Let's not start insulting their quality - they nearly qualified for the world cup in the tougher Europe zone. Clearly, someone rates him

I don't really get how you can call a player 'shite' given that he's clearly shown himself not be in a few of the matches. 'Inconsistent', 'lightweight', 'lacking belief' are all valid descriptions of Shay - but I think his already fragile confidence and let's be honest here is a player who happily talks to the local press and appreciates the chance given to hi, would be shattered with you as his, er, motivator

And when he trots off to somewhere else and suddenly fulfills his potential and say they get a good fee for him, you'd defend the club chucking a player out after his first season in a higher division and all the 'distractions' he's had

Not saying McCartan will magically come good, but the football league is littered with players discarded too readily - because a club couldn't be bothered to coach them, as too many managers like to take the easy way out and buy players

Correct. He's an awkward player to have in your team and far easier for someone like Grayson to ignore or Stuart to make a scapegoat (i.e. Northampton match) than actually see what he would be like playing in the position and with the type of players, which he had those two very good games over Xmas

You basically need Wyke, with a Billy Clarke / Paul Taylor type player and then McCartan can show his best. If he doesn't then yes, he's failed - but we tried this for two matches
