Simon Grayson is starting to look one smart dude.

 

They are looking for a coach not a manager as many of the people on here have speculated on are. I wouldn’t be surprised if the other guy shortlisted was Ben Garner another coach who has done well bringing young players through as well as having experience of first team coaching. Many managers go into management without experience at all

 

I for one are happy to go with this appointment if it happens, he's not a complete novice either. His CV is interesting and he fits the bill as a first team head coach under the framework Edin wants to employ. He's been on the touchline for Sunderland first team games for a decent length of time so is very familiar with the requirements of this part of his role. It would appear he was successful bringing on young players so this fits well too. The key now is that all the links in the chain work well together and if we find a few more "sleepers" we could have a recipe for success despite my reservations. He might even make a player out of Poleon! CTID

 

Whaaaaaat???? You mean your going let an unknown coach have the benefit of the doubt without judging him before he's actually signed and before you really know anything about him??? Not sure I understand this concept.

 

So our top two candidates were Stockdale and Seeberger, to be fair they could have easily went for Seeberger.

 

You already scouring google for any shred of positivity, Ricc already trying to roll a seven. No one has the first clue how it will pan out. Give the lad time to get some games under his belt first FFS. He does fit the model Rahic was looking for though, has worked with youth players and is not a manager. One thing i will say, if he does get the job he's got his work cut out, good luck to him.

 

I'll tell you what, that open letter I did write all that time ago doesn't look so stupid now. I was pretty much bang on.

Just a few more examples......majority of them have done alright for themselves.

 

Not at all I am pointing out a fact as for having his work cut out doesn’t that apply to most New appointee after all that is why is there a vacancy

 

We might not have a head coach at all at this rate.

I'm the complete opposite to wishful thinking.

 

He's worked under a quite a lot of managers so they must see something in him. Sunderland are a club in free fall and even the moyes , Coleman , Grayson and big Sam couldn't stop that and at the end of the day Stockdale was only following orders from them as the manager calls the shots. Stockdale could turn out to be a great manager or he could be crap but we won't find out until the season as started but I'll wait and reserve judgment and will back him until he gives me a reason not to.

 

And it could still turn out not to be him. But that’s @Ricc for you

No it doesn't. Some new managers are in a far better position when they start than the potential new coach of Bradford is. I'd say without a doubt the new manager of Bradford has his work cut out, a mid table budget coupled with a crowd with diminishing expectancy and a remit to bring players through for potential sale at the same time.
