Man Utd - Now a small time club in Manchester

They are the second best team in the country at the moment and with two or three signings will be challenging next season

 

Hopefully Liverpool will be in the inaugural European Conference League.

 

You must be gutted Fordy. 30 years to win a title and you never got to play at Old Trafford as Champions....

 

Leicester had been seriously on the slide. West Ham had a realistic chance of overtaking them if they can win their last three games against Brighton, West Brom and Southampton.
But United have fielded a team full of kids, reserves and has-beens and virtually handed a top four place to Leicester on a plate.
I accept they had to rotate some of the squad, given their fixtures, but this was way over the top. It's totally unfair on West Ham, Spurs, Liverpool and Everton, who all had a shout at a top four place before today.

 

What was it three games in five days

 

Blame the Premier league for ridiculous scheduling arrangements, not United. They had no real choice. Any club in their position would have done the same. West Ham lost at home to Everton the other day day, Spurs at Leeds, and Liverpool have put up one of the worst title defences in living memory. They need to look closer to home for reasons why they might not finish in the top 4.

 

Fergie would have done, and did, exactly the same. He once played a team with 7 defenders in an FA Cup tie a few days before a big CL game. The difference is, he won. There isn't a manager in the league who wouldn't have done exactly what Solskjaer did yesterday. Not one. Even Man City themselves fielded a massively changed side against Chelsea at the weekend, to protect their hand ahead of the CL final. No one has handed them anything, they've been by far and away the best side in the League. Solskjaers only obligation is to Man United; 3 games in 5 days, just before a European final? Of course they were going to make changes! And he's probably used it as an opportunity to reinforce to his bosses that the squad needs strengthening.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. You desperately needed your biggest rivals to dig you out of a hole, and they didn't. You need to be more focused on why Liverpool have put up such a piss poor defence of their title. Klopps been handed his arse by David Moyes FFS!

 

I've said all along that I thought West Ham would run out of steam and finish 6th or 7th. They simply don't have the squad depth. The impact of injuries to key players and fatigue has caught up with them. Expecting to qualify for Europe with only one, injury prone, striker - Antonio - was always a tall order. Moyes has performed miracles to get this squad as high as it is.
But there was till a chance to grab a CL place, with Leicester on a bad run and three relatively easy games to come. Until United rolled over and had their tummies tickled.

 

As I say, there isn't a side or manager in the league who wouldn't have done the same. You finish the season, wherever you finish the season. If there's a gripe, it should be with the League who imposed a ridiculous fixture schedule. No one else.

 

As I said earlier, I accept that United had to rest some players. But there are surely limits to what is reasonable. To change the entire team and field a side full of kids, reserves and has-beens isn't reasonable in my view.
