We lost 2-0 in the Littlewoods Cup quarter final, January 88.
Was we not one of the first teams to play at Kenilworth Road following Millwall's rioting there a couple of years prior to this.

Fantastic odds in a two horse race.

I often look back and wish I'd have had £100 on City to 4:2 in live play at Chelsea when we were 2:0 down.

Well it's a 3 horse race with the draw included.

Draw no bet is 13/2 and Bradford/draw double chance is very tasty @12/5.

I believe Luton were thrown out of the competition the previous season, because their ban on away fans was against the rules of the competition.

They allowed away fans in, for the first time, for their 2nd round match at home to Wigan, as it was a very low key affair with an attendance of just over 4,000 and very few away fans attending.

In the 3rd round, their home tie with Coventry was switched to Leicester, thus avoiding the issue.

In the 4th round they were drawn away at Ipswich.

So, when the quarter final against City came along, they were faced with a dilemma; allow away fans in, as per the competition's rules or face being thrown out of the competition (I'm not sure if they would have been allowed to play it a neutral venue, but that would have meant giving up home advantage).

So, yes, we were the first Club to break Luton's away supporter ban, at least in any significant numbers.

The whole away supporter ban was part of a plan to demonise football supporters and further the political career of David Evans, Luton's Chairman at the time, as well as help the Minister for Sport, Colin Moynihan, force ID cards on all football supporters.

Consequently, the policing and stewarding of the match was extremely heavy handed and, when they couldn't provoke a response from City's supporters (despite the way we were treated at that match), they resorted to false reporting, with a story that linked City fans and a stabbing in Luton making news front pages; it was only a significant time later that the stabbing was reported as a lunchtime dispute between locals and nothing to do with the match.

Despite it not being that long ago, it was a very different country and a very different political scene at that time.

Fantastic reply and very well detailed. Cracking memory.

My vague recollection of the evening was Tomlinson's error, it being cold , being kept behind for an eternity, the plastic pitch and I may be wrong on this but didn't some fans in the seated area get frustrated at being kept behind and go onto the pitch?

Oh yes and I was stupid enough to travel so far and then have to go to school the morning after!!!

Only time I've been to Luton...

I was lucky, I expected that they would keep us back, but didn't think it would be for as longs as they did, so, about 5 minutes from the end, I walked up to a steward, showed him my rail ticket, said I needed to get an early train, and he let me out. I walked a few yards along to the first home exit and walked back in and watched the last few minutes from the back. So I avoided being kept back.

If City fans were treated like they were that night, now, I would expect an avalanche of civil claims and, possibly, criminal charges to follow. As I said, different times.

It's good to be talking about football again.

This is gonna be a hard game, We're gonna adopt the same tactics we did against Peterborough and I think it will once again work. A very positive draw for me this one!

I don't know, but they'd have been astronomical
We were 28/1 to win, never mind back from from a 2:0 deficit

A pal of mine a couple of weeks back put a tenner on City to go up !! Cant remember what odds he told me.
I will add he's not right in his head though.

    https://betting.betfair.com/football/fa-cup/fa-cup-betting-and-odds-round-up-sat-24-jan-240115-200.html

FA Cup favourites Chelsea, matched at a low of 4.30 to win the competition, have been knocked out at the fourth round stage in sensational fashion at home to League One outfit Bradford City this afternoon.

Leading 2-0 after 38 minutes through goals from Gary Cahill and Ramires, over £44k was matched on Jose Mourinho's men to win at Betfair's minimum price of 1.01 but a goal just before half time from Jon Stead gave the Bantams a glimmer of hope.

And that hope turned into a fairytale in the second half when goals from Filipe Morais and Andy Halliday gave Phil Parkinson's side an astonishing 2-3 lead.

Chelsea were now chasing the game, and with the likes of Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas called from the bench it seemed only a matter of time before the Blues scored a dramatic equaliser. But incredibly it was Bradford who scored next, Mark Yeates scoring his side's fourth goal in the 90th minute to wrap up an astonishing victory.

Bradford were matched at 460.00 to win the game when 2-0 down, and the Any Other Away Win (Bradford to score at least four in a victory) was matched at the huge price of 970.00.

If you'd gone into the bookies when we were 2-0 down at Stamford Bridge and said "what's the odds on a Bradford City 4-2 win" they would have locked the doors and phoned for the men in White coats :).

Quite simply, Betfair is a betting exchange where you or I can offer odds on an event occuring at odds we/you decide.

So in this case, on the Betfair betting site, odds of 969/1 were backed by at least 1 lucky customer for Bradford to score at least 4 goals and win at Chelsea...

Furthermore, at 2-0 down City were backed by at least 1 customer at odds of 459/1.

    Lucky beggars....

From a business perspective Dave with my KPIs in mind, I would not have been adverse to accepting these bets on the day. How very wrong I would have been!!!!!!

Because of an enforced 'revised' CB pairing, I cannot see beyond a defeat tomorrow. As has been mentioned - City should have enough in midfield to be more than competitive in that third of the pitch. Hopefully Bruenker can again be a nuisance up front (For them, not us ! ;) ), meaning the ball won't spend all game in the City half.
I expect the biggest threat will be from ourselves !! :eek2: We need to read early balls and intercept runners, or else we could be on the end of a thrashing. These next two games are crucial for morale (Luton and Peterborough), because the last thing we need is to go into a crucial match at Plymouth with our heads down.

Luton 3 - 1 City at worst, a Draw at best for me.
Of the bottom 8 placed clubs, I think City have the toughest game by far, tomorrow night.

I don't think there would be many asking for that sort of bet mate, on our way down the discussion was what would be an acceptable result, I said I'd be happy scoring one goal at Stamford Bridge, typical Bradford City they go and score four :).

I wouldn't have known at the time if I be honest. Whilst I was working that day, I was at home listening to the game....
