Getting beaten last night was not an issue for me, I anticipated it - which was reinforced as soon as I saw the team sheet. What's actually annoying is the way we invited that defeat. Ten minutes of sheer defensive lunacy, well acted out by a Sunday pub team performance. Hopkin as well as the players needs to up his game, in terms of team selection and tactics.

Luton looked a tidy well organised team - good movement and passing with players comfortable with each other. Everything we are not - lack of player availability meant the defence had never played together and it showed. Best forgotten and move on to Saturday.
A mention for some of our "support". I appreciate gallows humour might be the order of the day, but chanting "We're shit and we know we are" as the players walk on to the field is pretty negative and unhelpful. Ditto, "You're nothing special, we lose every week", also factually incorrect. If you are going to be bothered travelling to Luton on very damp Tuesday night, at least support the team. And don't stand up on the front row when seating is unreserved. Bloody rude.brisbanebantams, Captain Grumpy, Mal Content and 8 others like this. -

Interesting story about getting the tickets...queued up for over six hours in the snow and got 5 places away from the ticket office window when they said 'sold out'!! Couldn't believe it....but they took details and said if any returns we'll be in touch...kids were distraught that we hadn't got tickets but got a phone call at work on Monday afternoon to ask if I was still interested....when I got home from work and told my two lads, I was then the best Dad in the world that evening!!!Alastair Bateman, bcfc2015, loz and 7 others like this. -

One is already true, one is almost certainly true and will be confirmed in the coming weeks/months, and the other I probably won't ever know for sure.
But if you ask me, and I've dealt with this poster, he not only told me the truth, but had genuine information, acted in the best interests of the club, and didn't exaggerate once.
Also, I know that the funds for the flyover will be back in our hands very soon, and I'll confirm as soon as they are.
If this poster isn't owed an apology, he is at least owed some respect for having the club at heart and for knowing what he was talking about.
He told me he wasn't a bullshitter.

I fear the worst, but hope we can dig deep. Just stop them scoring. Kick the ball out all the time, roll around on the floor, headbut their central defenders elbow, have cramp, send players to the furthest point of the ground before a substitution, all the tricks in the book, grind out a nasty draw!

Be really nice to get the win, draw would be acceptable, but we need something to keep the momentum going. Isn't it about time the officials ballsed up a game in our favour?!

The goals were all soft. Defending was poor and a uncharacteristic mistake from O’Donnell.
The second half we were considerably better going forward and Payne made a huge difference. It’s really hard to make a case for why he isn’t staying every game. I struggled to see why the goal didn’t stand from the corner and believe we were good value for a goal at that stage.
Unfortunately, this was the type of game we really didn’t need after Saturday, especially with the forced changes. At least tonight there was effort and desire. We won’t play Luton away every week (thank goodness).
Just hope they take this on the chin and move on very quick. We have played a hell of a lot worse this season that’s for sure.
For the record:
* Mellor had a decent game
* Payne has to start, if fit
* Chicksen, unfortunately, looked vulnerable
* Doyle badly badly badly needs support!Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Aireboro Bantam, Bronco, Inspector and 2 others like this. -

They allowed away fans in, for the first time, for their 2nd round match at home to Wigan, as it was a very low key affair with an attendance of just over 4,000 and very few away fans attending.
In the 3rd round, their home tie with Coventry was switched to Leicester, thus avoiding the issue.
In the 4th round they were drawn away at Ipswich.
So, when the quarter final against City came along, they were faced with a dilemma; allow away fans in, as per the competition's rules or face being thrown out of the competition (I'm not sure if they would have been allowed to play it a neutral venue, but that would have meant giving up home advantage).
So, yes, we were the first Club to break Luton's away supporter ban, at least in any significant numbers.
The whole away supporter ban was part of a plan to demonise football supporters and further the political career of David Evans, Luton's Chairman at the time, as well as help the Minister for Sport, Colin Moynihan, force ID cards on all football supporters.
Consequently, the policing and stewarding of the match was extremely heavy handed and, when they couldn't provoke a response from City's supporters (despite the way we were treated at that match), they resorted to false reporting, with a story that linked City fans and a stabbing in Luton making news front pages; it was only a significant time later that the stabbing was reported as a lunchtime dispute between locals and nothing to do with the match.
Despite it not being that long ago, it was a very different country and a very different political scene at that time.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Captain Grumpy, bantamdave41, Briggus and 1 other person like this.
