In other news - Liverpool went for Lavia and couldnt agree the fee. So went for Caciedo, agreed terms, lost out to Chelsea, so went back for Lavia as back up - who has just rejected them as well and agreed to join Chelsea.

How ya feeling [IMG]@Fordy117 lad??? Liverpool are the absolute blueprint of English football according to you!!! :joy:

They're both very similar so the club that's offered you the highest wage of you've got any sense.

Add into the mix the difference in lifestyle - London West End, or Liverpool. Its a draw for players.

Also throw into that history a passionate fan base. Of course rewards are very important but I am sure there will be little difference between clubs and some players will like tge high life of London Town. But I still know which club I would prefer to play for

Whilst no one can deny Liverpool’s history, younger people today(those of playing age) barely know football existed pre Premier League era. Every player who plays know will see Chelsea as the more successful club in their lifetime. I’m sorry but you’re looking at it all wrong, most people who are 30 or younger won’t fancy Liverpool over Chelsea. As has been proven by the latest signing today.

Their fans are the worst in England. 20 year old kids like Caciedo and Lavia have only seen Chelsea dominate Liverpool the last 2 decades.

Remember the days when Chelsea were a league fixture at VP? Two hats then, two hats now. A plastic football club, especially when the money launderers took over. Arrogant sheets.

The 'passionate fanbase' thing with Liverpool is overstated. A handful of times a year, its an immense atmosphere, the rest of the time its as soulless as all other grounds. For an overseas player especially, they won't care about that anyway I wouldn't have thought, not as much as the stuff that has a bearing on their everyday lives. Its not for me either, but the glitz of the west end will be a big draw for young multi-millionaire men. And in football terms, there's every likelihood that Chelsea will fare better than Liverpool over the coming years, the way they're throwing money around.

True, but I think they're building a hell of a squad and they now have a 'proper' manager. They were the better team against Liverpool at the weekend.

I went last year as the daughter has Liverpool as a "second team". Apart from the teams coming out it was silent for the most part and sat right at the top of the main stand you could hear certain songs being played over a PA system trying to get the crowd going.

It was weird and I had to check myself but it certainly wasn't a 'normal' crowd noise and had a 'tinny' sound so it was definitely an artificially generated noise.

A lot of kids these days though think that football didn't exist before the PL and with Chelsea winning it 5 times to Liverpool's 1 Chelsea certainly have the upper hand for the younger supporters.

    I’m feeling fine.

Look, it’s simple. Saudi backed Chelsea are cheating and the PL, FIFA are letting them get away with it.

It’s the agents are that are not shocking choosing Chelsea. Why would you want to join a club with no history? Oh that’s right a 9 year contract!

Make no mistake Liverpool has messed up over the Last few weeks. Certainly with the Lavia deal and have been embarrassing but hey if you can’t see Chelsea and the London media are cheating then I can’t help you.

Manchester City are the most successful club in the world at the moment so that skews it Overall Real Madrid are number one. I think Liverpools position is about right

It's ranking Brands though not current on field success. Short term success doesn't build instant brands, brands grow from legacy, success can obviously play a part in building Legacy but that does take time. United's brand is built largely on the foundations of the Busby babes (well actually the Munich Disaster really as that captured the wider public consciousness both in the UK and abroad), Liverpool off the 70s and 80's and Real off the the Di Stefano and Pukas era. And then everything else has built on top of that.

And it's telling that when Footballers say Manchester they are almost always referring to United. When it's City they say City. And preseason tours United matches sell out quickly, City's often need them to be playing the likes of Real.

Maybe in 20 years the success now will lead to them having a strong brand especially if it continues but it makes little sense that they have the strongest brand. If it was they would actually be bringing on shirt sponsorship at the highest amounts rather than being down on value even when they basically sponsor themselves
