Origi and Shaqiri will make it an 18-man squad at Melwood on Monday and could feature at Tranmere on Thursday night.

 

It would be funny to see the faces of those purely jumping on the bandwagon to see Salah, Mane and the other superstars. They will now be very disappointed!!! - Probably about half the stadium!!!

maybe I'm giving City fans too much credit (probably am) but I don't think anyone will seriously be expecting Mo Salah, Firmino, Van Dijk and Mane to rock up and play against Bradford City, especially with the international tournaments that have been on until very recently.

I'm excited to see Rhian Brewster myself, and Shaqiri.

Totally agree with your earlier comment about City fans not expecting to see the bigger stars.

 

I would be quite happy to see a few legends from the past for both sides playing myself. Just wish Big Bobby could be one of them !

 

Some may think I wear rose tinted glasses, whilst others may think I'm no more than optimistic, or whatever else .... ?
However, the fact this game is a sell out has nothing to do with whom our opponents are IMO. Supporters from all over are going to turn up because of Stephen Darby and his foundation - and rightly so.
I know there is a minibus of Rochdale supporters attending this game, plus a number of Bolton fans too. They are not attending VP to witness City versus Liverpool ....... They are ALL paying tribute to a great Person, Man and player.

See Ronnie I think as much as I love Darby a huge reason this has sold out is because it is Liverpool, what other team would sell 4k tickets? I also don't think that people give a flying about what squad Liverpool turn up with either.

 

I think it has a bit to do with the opponents.

if this was Bradford City vs Bolton I can't imagine it would have sold out. Darby foundation or not.

 

And yet City supporters are 'expecting' a 'B' team to turn up ........... Well SO are Liverpool fans ! THAT has not prevented them from attending in numbers, has it ? How MANY LAFC fans actually turn out out for an U23 HOME game ? A LOT less than 4k , I imagine ?
So why should 4k rock up at VP ? ........... I know .......... Do you ?
Not official, but I suspect about 50+ Rochdale fans, and a similar amount of Bolton fans will be in attendance within the AWAY allocation - Many wearing 'Colours'. NOT to be confrontational - But to show where they come from, and that they DO care. A shame some precious City fans can't adopt the same mentality .......

 

Are fans still going on about the stadium being full of Liverpool, even though I have stated many a time that not many tickets have been purchased by fans not already on the clubs database.

 

It's not an U23s game though Ronnie, there will be some seniors mixed in with whatever team shows up. I think they normally sell Tranmere out every pre season too?

Whilst true, Bolton fans simply aren’t Liverpool fans. Bolton would only attend a high profile game and not a friendly against a Yorkshire opponent. Liverpool fans are die-hards and those that can’t get normal tickets will chance their arm.

I know a couple of Liverpool fans attending. Although live in Bradford, they follow the reds. Not easy to get tickets to Anfield so are turning up to see them at VP. However, they know not to expect 1st team players.

Most City fans are turning up to support Darby

 

At the end of the day I'm not bothered which fans turn up its all about supporting the foundation and darby if they pay their money who cares where they come from.
