And just to be clear I am saying it is too early to be coming down with definitive reasons and blame. The story is still evolving so maybe we should wait for some evidence and let the investigation happen before coming out with allocating all the blame to one side or the other, or from what the minister has said today another group

Except we know, from Andy Robertson, that some of the supposedly fake tickets weren't fake.

 

@BenitoCarbone it wasn't the Madrid turnstiles that were affected though, so that's contrary to the point.

Our club is synonymous with a fire disaster and as such we as fans do not light any flares or smoke bombs within VP for many, many a reason.

If a club is synonymous with an overcrowding tragedy, regardless of who was to blame, then the masses of ticketless fans trying to get in, causing disruption, injury, and missing the game for their genuine legitimate supporters are a disgrace.

There has to be an element of common sense and logic involved. Those thousands of ticketless/fake ticket fans have caused disruption for their own fans for a game in which they play in every few years. It was unnecessary, dangerous and disrespectful towards their own fans. It's typical scouse behaviour though, sadly.

UEFA run European finals without issues delaying kick off every single year, yet thousands of ticketless Liverpool fans turn up and suddenly it's UEFA, or a few madrid fans, or a couple of social media attention seekers fault? Come on.

 

This is the thing, when you get people behaving like this some innocent folk end up getting caught up in it and affected by it.

In most cases there'd be some ire directed at these people, including some self-policing within their own support, but because of Hillsborough noone is prepared to call out Liverpool fans whatever they do.

 

Gerald Darmanin the French Interior Minister has said that 70% of the tickets presented by LFC fans were fake which is obviously a load of rubbish. Even if it were true that fraudsters managed to sell more fake tickets to Liverpool fans than UEFA managed to sell genuine tickets to Liverpool and Real fans combined, it's monumental ineptitude from the authorities that they didn't spot 30-40,000 fake tickets being sold on Viagogo over the last few weeks and realise that there was going to be a problem well in advance.

 

I attended the super cup final in tallinn some years ago. Also England games here. You’ve got to be an official member of the club, enter passport details and so on. They’ve done this to prevent touts selling tickets for inflated prices, and fake tickets. Absolute clear message if your ID doesn’t match the name on the ticket, you won’t get in, So how come that didn’t work on Saturday?

 

That's got zero to do with this situation and was nearly 40 years ago. If you read the reports on Heysel, it's very surprising that UEFA and the ground owners came out of it scot free. The punishment was due to the deaths and nationalities of those people and not necessarily completely due to each parties actions

A vital skill I suggest you learn in life, else you will be consistently taken advantage of, is to always consider the source and the motivation of that source to say what they are saying. The first line should raise a big red flag in your head (not a Liverpool one). What would motivate French authorities to make a statement like that?

 

And those final have also had Liverpool there. therefore ask yourself what was majorly different this year. The first Real Madrid final was far more special to someone from Liverpool and attracted a lot of fans. In reality UEFA probably cocked up by choosing Paris in the first place.

I'm tapping out of this as I don't want to argue with fellow City fans. I just think the authorities are clamping down on the blame game without accepting any responsibility. There will always be deviant fans. You plan for that

 

I won't pretend I've seen all the accounts you're referring to. All I've seen so far are several parties proclaiming no wrongdoing and blaming others. Its why a properly independent inquiry is needed before anyone can really judge. And that inquiry has to demonstrate all the factors as to why events at the Madrid and Liverpool ends played out so very differently.

 

The late fans message was not worded correctly.

It was merely informing everyone that fans weren't yet in the stadium. Late arriving fans has been muddled out of context into implying that fans were late to the ground, but the message was supposed to be interpreted as fans are still entering the stadium - not all fans have got in yet.

Poor wording.

 

Both sets of fans had different entrances. Liverpool had a dangerously narrow passage to get 20,000 fans through. At most 3 turnstiles were open out of the 5 but the majority of the time 1 or 0 turnstiles were open whereas Real Madrid had 5 turnstiles. That doesn't taken an independent investigation to see it's an issue. Fan were trying to scan their ticket and got
sprayed for no reason.

 

I wouldn't trust EUFA as far as I could throw them to conduct a fair and independent enquiry. The more information that emerges the more it looks like they and the French authorities royally screwed up the logistics for this game. They won't want that being made explicit. Expect a whitewash. Who knows, they could even get the Met Police in to advise them how best to do it.
