    They've closed us down really well and really quickly. Think they scared the hell out of French - he had started quite confidently even after the the own goal. No time on the ball and they can now afford to sit back and hit us on the break. I have been impressed with the desire to put early balls in the box by both Wood and French; it's just a shame we can't get anyone on the end of them. No excuses for the strikers at any rate.

    We lack a leader and organiser in defence.

    Whatever the formation - 3, 4 or 5 - or the personnel, the defence needs to work as a single unit. Some clubs practice it relentlessly on the training pitch whilst others rely on the defensive organiser to marshal the others. AO'C has never been good at that nor has BRE. When Paudie first arrived, he showed some signs of being capable of organising the defence but that seems to have been knocked out of him.

    Without a natural organiser, we rely on one of the midfielders protecting the defence more than they should need to. And that has its problems. If we continue as we are being disorganised, even bringing in a better striker or two, our defence will continue to let us down.
