Been a few seasons since we signed an experienced specialist full back.

So used to random kids and non league efforts.

Pretty happy with this.

 

Don't over do the praise we've not seen him yet ....nah you're right I'm happy with a player for a dedicated position, because ultimately that's what Adams will be judge on.

 

Most things that have either happened so far under Adams' first transfer window and his general approach to those he's signed elsewhere indicate we're going back to the 'men not boys' approach of Parkinson.

I can't tell you how refreshing that is after the Edin Rahic development squad crap.

 

The Wood of 2 seasons ago without a doubt but he was poor (yes in a poor team) last season.

 

For Woods sake it was best he went back down south, in an interview he alluded to being lonely through Covid so far away from Friends and Family. This probably resulted in his downtrend in form last season as footballers are only human. Imo he was always going to move back south, best for both parties.

 

That's quite understandable single lad etc, shame we couldn't get a fee for him as he showed promise a couple of seasons ago, but good luck to the lad.

Him and Angol I see being squad fillers. Liam you know what you get and wont be stupidly expensive. Angol. Lot to prove but could prove inspired

For me we need to upgrade on Crankshaw, and use him as back up. I hope Adams can get a tune out of him and vernham as i think we possibly have 2 good players there that we didn't really see the best of last season.

 

I have a feeling Sutton might well be a player who benefits from Adams. Wouldn't object to a Sutton/ Songo'o combi in the middle.

 

I'm hoping Sutton plays right back. If DA can get him defensively sound his pace and energy would be a good asset going forward.

 

That looks incredibly weak at the moment.

Neither full back was first choice last year, one of the centre halves shouldn't have been first choice last year and the two wide men did absolutely nothing for 6 months.

Not sure why you've left Callum Cooke, Watt and Sutton out though. They're as good as anything else in your line up.

Simply because I see two new signings taking the place of Watt & Sutton, though your call as Sutton at RB is a good one, and that I think Eisa could be given the free role. I could be miles off, the fullback could be back up but I doubt it, and Eisa could play wide bringing Cooke back in.

All absolute guesswork on my part. We will all know on 7th August !

 

Eisa's a left winger, so I definitely see Cooke playing in the centre.

He's miles better than Crankshaw and Vernam anyway, but right now we're probably looking at Eisa and Vernam on the wings.

If we eventually sign Songo'o (or someone similar) then I reckon they'll be the foil for Watt, who will be given a playmaker role.

Sutton back up IMO.

 

I think Eisa will play off the left with Cooke behind Cook but even then we still look weak. Fingers crossed we have some genuine quality lined up for the next 3 or 4 signings.

 

Honest question: did you think Morecambe's promotion team was much better?

 

I've no idea as I didn't watch them every week but it's got absolutely no relevance to the point anyway. Sometimes weak sides get promoted and sometimes apparently strong sides get relegated. That's football.

All I'm doing here is offering my own thoughts on the squad at present. Still plenty of time to strengthen though.
