The spreadsheet started reaching a point where it was really slow to parse the data into it. It needs to be reworked so each match is its own spreadsheet with a master one then pulling all the data into it which will be more efficient. The problem is this time of year is one of my busiest. Not only do alot of clients want work done before the holiday period kicks in but just under 50% of my client base is in the US whose tax years end on the 31st December while the client who gives me the most work as a look after their whole portfolio of websites (we are talking 20+ different sites) is from Israel which also has a end of tax year on the 31st and a month before the end of tax year you get that situation where they are looking to spend anything left in the budget for that year. As such I just haven't had a lot of free time to work on reworking the spreadsheets and when I have had some spare moments I just haven't felt like sitting in front of my PC.

My hope is that at the moment I have everything scheduled up to the 23rd. Then I have upto 2nd Jan booked off for anything but emergencies and I should then have some time to get the spreadsheet reworked then (As its something I can do on my laptop while sitting infront of the TV watching those movies that are on every Christmas that you have seen so many times that it doesn't need your full focus)

 

Its been a while since an update while I sorted the spreadsheets out but here we go with a big update to how you are all doing

Game 18

This was a low scoring round. We had three people guess the correct score of a one all draw but all 3 missed out on getting the correct scorer so take home 5 points. These 3 were @Brian_Tinnion , @Stoneski and @Interested Bystander and each picked up 3 bonus points. @Stoneski prediction of an 11th-minute goal bags him a further 2 bonus points for a total of 10 points.

Outside of these 3 we had 3 entries who correctly guesses that city's goal would be scored by O'Connor so grabbed themselves a point. These were @Ricky , @broadsword and @Chapter Two

Game 19

Unlike the previous match the majority of entries added points to their total.

@Bronco & @broadsword both correctly got the result and score correct but missed out on bonus points by missing out on correctly predicting either of the scorers. They still both added 5 points to their total. @bantam2708 was unlucky who predicted both scorers and the result but missed out on taking home the full points by not trusting City not to concede a goal. Still taking home 4 points is a nice haul

The bonus point went instead to @Nick_W_ and @Jayteebee who got both the result, score and one of the scorers. @Jayteebee takes home 9 points but @Nick_W_ takes home the highest points haul of 11 thanks to the tiebreak

Game 20

This was a mixed round, about half of you picked up points by predicting a loss but the size of the loss and no City scorers limited scorers to 2 points. The exception to this were the bonus point winners, the closest prediction was a 3-0 loss from @How and @AndyRanger . @AndyRanger takes home 3 bonus points for a haul of 5 with @How tiebreak answer getting him a further 2 for a total haul of 7

Game 21

While not many of your predicted a draw and certainly no-one saw a 3-3 one the majority of you did score points, certainly helped by City scoring 3 goals giving plenty of chances to get a correct scorer.

8 of you did predict a draw (@Tony Wilkinson @RonnieBrown @Bigrod @Lord Bobby @Ricky @River_City_Bantam & @ @Frank Castle) BUT who picked up the bonus points? By predicting one of the correct scorers (all picking Payne) @RonnieBrown @Lord Bobby and @River_City_Bantam all grab 3 bonus points to take their round haul to 6. @River_City_Bantam adds a further 2 on the tiebreak for a total of 8

Game 22

Due to an unusual level of positivity, all but 4 of you scored points. No-one dared predict a 4-0 win (although @Keefly Bantam was close with a 4-1 win) so who grabbed the bonus points came down to predicting a win (which most did) and predicting a scorer. So the bonus points went to @JonButterfield and @Mighty Bantam who not only predicted one of the scorers but 2. @JonButterfield takes home 7 points but by winning the tiebreak @Mighty Bantam takes home 9

Ranking changes

So how have these weeks.

The biggest riser over these games was @Interested Bystander who jumped a massive 20 places from 45th to 25th. @Brian_Tinnion also rose 20 places from 71st to 51st.

@Stoneski moved 17 places from 49th to 32nd, @Jayteebee up 16 from 39 to 23rd, @HaworthBantam99 up 13 from 71st to 58th, @Mighty Bantam rose 12 from 41st to 29th, @Pineapple Salesman rose 9 from 48th to 39th and @AndyRanger rose 9 places from 24th to 15th

@bradgirl added 5 point but falls 3 places from 8th to 11th.

@Hugh Jarse & @farsleybantam add 6 point but drop a place to joint 9th.

@Ashton only added 3 points which sees a drop of 3 places to 8th

@Lord Bobby added 9 points and rose a place to 7th

@broadsword also added 9 points but that wasn't enough to prevent a 3 place drop to 6th

@RonnieBrown added 14 points to move up 2 places to 5th

@River_City_Bantam also added 14 point ro remain in 4th

Game 26 Update

Another high scoring round with only 5 people who entered failing to score points which saw alot of movement.

We only had a single person scoring the most points this time and that was @Hulmebantam. The 12 points when the bonus points were added is the largest point gain anyone has had all season and certainly brings him back into contention.

For second place we had 8 people all scoring 6 points who for the prizes had to be separated by the tiebreak with some having to be separated on simply being first to submit their prediction to give the final order this round as

Risers

We have two people who scored their first points. @CuppaMatt picked up 2 points to move up 8 places to joint 68th while @Tyersalbantam scored 3 points to move up 16 places to joint 60th

@Bantamsmike gained 3 points and moved up 1 place to 54th.

Moving to joint 47th is @Telesto (adding 3 points and moving up 5 places) & @Offcomedun (adding 2 points and moving up 3 places)

@Brian_Tinnion 2 points move him up 1 place to 42nd while @Bronco moves up 4 places to 37th thanks to the 6 points picked up

In joint 31st we have three movers in @Ricky @Rogered Tart & Pablo . @Ricky moves up 4 places with a 4 point gain while the 3 points both @Rogered Tart & @Pablo picked up move them up 1 place

Fallers

@PlatinumChaosX @Batmanbantam @JudgeMental @Chippy @bantamdave41 & @Chapter Two failed to add any points this round so drop places. @PlatinumChaosX falls 1 place to 55th, @Batmanbantam drops 1 to 52nd, @JudgeMental sees a 2 place drop to 52nd, @Chippy is at 51st a drop of 2 places. @bantamdave41 falls 1 place to 44th while @Chapter Two 2 place drop to 43rd.

Storck dropped 2 places to 40th while @Frank Castle fell 3 places to joint 38th. @Bradfud added 2 point but couldn't stop a 1 place drop to 36th while @Pineapple Salesman also added 2 points but fell by 2 places to joint 34th being joined by @Gardscoigne who scored no points and fell 4 places.

@Ricc and @Klepton both fell 3 places to 30th and 28th respectively. @JimmyBantam had a massive 7 place drop to 27th

@Tony Wilkinson added points but not enough to prevent a fall from 18th to 20th where there is a 5 way tie.

@Ashton drops from 13th to 16th and @bradgirl added 3 points but fell one place to 15th.


The Top 10 battle

Despite adding 3 points each @Bigrod & @Hugh Jarse both fall out of the top10 falling 2 places to joint 11th

Moving into the top10 to joint 9th with a 2 place rise however is @Lord Bobby thanks to his 5 point gain. He is joined at 9th by @Steve1970 who scored 3 points but fell 2 places

In 8th is @Foghornleghorn who gained 6 points so moved up 3 places

@farsleybantam , @broadsword and @RonnieBrown remain in 7th, 6th and 5th.

@River_City_Bantam who was joint 3rd picked up fewer points that @Bantam-in-Greece so moves down to 4th. @Bantam-in-Greece outscored the top 2 but not by enough to overtake them. The gap has however closed

The top 2 remain the same but @Nick_W_ picked up 2 more points than to bring the gap down to 5

Game 9 Update:

Another disappointing loss for City but for the 40% of you who are eternal pessimists it was a good day in the prediction league

While we didn't have a perfect prediction, 4 people shared top spot by correctly predicting a 2-1 Loss. These 4 were @Nick_W_ @Frank Castle (I might be wrong but I think this is best a mod has done so far. I was starting to think they all needed firing for knowing nothing about football lol) , @BoingBoing and @bradgirl

This was the second week in a row that @Nick_W_ has been one of those with the best prediction, unlike last week though he also picks up the bonus point on the tiebreak for predicting the first goal would be scored in the 31st minute which was only 8 minutes out. This beat @bradgirl by 2 minutes. So @Nick_W_ takes the full 5 bonus points, the other 3 pick up 3 bonus points each.

So what has that done to the table. Those 2 great weeks have catapulted @Nick_W_ above @farsleybantam into first. It also moves @bradgirl and @BoingBoing up 9 places from joint 16th to joint 7th.

The biggest winner of the week though was @Frank Castle who moved up a massive 36 places from 60th to joint 24th. It was actually only his second point scorer all season (the other being the 2 points he scored in the Fleetwood game so you can see why the 8 points today had such an impact). Other big movers included another mod @Bigrod whose 2 points moved him up 8 places to joint 34th (Coincidentally now in a tie with another mod @Pineapple Salesman. The only other mod playing is @Dennis who still hasn't scored). Also moving up 8 places to joint 34th is @Rogered Tart @RonnieBrown and @JonButterfield. Then we have @Tony Wilkinson moving up 6 places to joint 31st, @Klepton & @River_City_Bantam moving up 5 places to joint 11th and @Steve1970 also moving up 5 places to joint 24th.

The biggest losers of the week are @Pomfretbantam @Bronco @Mighty Bantam and @WilsdenBantam who fall 5 places from joint 42nd to 47th.

At the end of the day though even if you are on Zero @Nick_W_ rise over the last 2 games highlights how quickly things can turn around and with so much of the season left there is no reason you can't come out victorious at the end of the season. So keep your eyes open for this weekends entry thread which will go up later today (Thursday) to ensure you get your entries in

Game 12 Update:

This week we had a 5-way tie for the best prediction between @RonnieBrown @shoatsy @Hugh Jarse @Bantam-in-Greece @WilsdenBantam & @bradgirl . All 5 predicted that Sunderland would win 2-1. They all pick up 3 bonus points with @RonnieBrown getting the extra 2 for having the closest first goal time minute.

Overall about half of you predicted a loss so there were a decent number of players who added to their total. No-one predicted the goalscorer though meaning those who predicted a win or draw were able to add to their targets.

So now onto how that has impacted the leaderboard. @How time at the top lasted just a single week as @Bantam-in-Greece retook the lead thanks to the 8 points picked up. With the rest of the top 10, we have seen @broadsword move up one to 4th but is joined there by @bradgirl who rises 3 places. @farsleybantam had a scoreless week and drops out the top 3 to 6th place. @Ashton drops 1 place to 7th while @Hugh Jarse jumps into the top 10 with a 5 place rise to 8th. @Lord Bobby falls 2 places to 9th. The top 10 is rounded out by @bantamlad92 who falls 1 place and is joined in 10th by @RonnieBrown who rises 15 places from 25th.

Outside the top10 the biggest riser of the week is @shoatsy who jumps from 45th and into the top20 at a joint 20th place. The next biggest riser was @bantamdave41 who jumped 6 places to 35th. A lot of you jumped 2 or 3 places, too many of you to mention by name.

Game 15 Update:

A large number of you scored points this game but there wasn't a significant amount of position changes. @broadsword moved up one place to 3, knocking @Nick_W_ down 1 to joint 4th with @River_City_Bantam who moved up 1 place

The biggest mover was @Hulmebantam with a 15 place rise to joint 16th thanks to the 1-4 loss prediction being by far the closest resulting in picking up all the bonus points. The next biggest riser was @Jay who scored his first points which jumped up 7 places to joint 62. Is this Jay making a delayed run for the title

Game 24 Update

A good win for City also meant a bumper points haul as only 5 of you didn't back them to get a win.

For much of the match, it seemed like @JonButterfield was on course to take home the largest haul of points with his 0-3 win prediction being spot on. While he also predicted a Miller goal the 1 point wasn't it took his haul before bonus points from 5 points down to 3.

No-one predicted the correct scorer so we had 4 people with the highest score predicting a win and 2 of the 4 scorers. These four were @Steve1970 @Tony Wilkinson @Hugh Jarse and @Bigrod. They all get 3 bonus points with @Tony Wilkinson picking up the extra 2 as his score prediction was the closest

Risers

@Lost Mackem manages to score points with his first entry of the season and effectively jumps ahead of 14 people (13 of whom haven't scored all season and 1 in @Chad who is still on -7) and is now joint 67th

With a rise of 3 places @Offcomedun moves upto joint 50th while @Brian_Tinnion moves up 5 places to to joint 43rd

Each adding 2 points this round see's @Bronco move up 1 place to joint 41st, @hipperholmebantam moving up 2 places to joint 38th, @Bratfud also rising 2 places to joint 35th and @Pineapple Salesman moves up 4 places to joint 32nd

@Gardscoigne & @Stoneski still can't be separated as both added 3 points which moves them up 2 places to 30th

Also adding 3 points each @JimmyBantam & @JonButterfield move into the top20 with a 3 place rise. Also joining them at joint 20th is @shoatsy whose 2 points resulted in a 1 place rise.

Game 3 Update: The pessimists amongst you had a good time this week picking up some useful points. Still, plenty of you waiting to get off the mark though.

Our biggest riser was @How who not only predicted the score correctly but also won the tie-break with the closest prediction on the first goal time so added a massive 10 points to his score. Just goes to show how you may feel you are out of it but 1 good week can throw you back into the mix.

@Lord Bobby added 2 more points but that wasn't enough to retain his lead. He is now joint second alongside @Foghornleghorn , @Gardscoigne and @Bantam-in-Greece

Our new leader who added 8 points to the 9 he scored in game 1 is now @broadsword

 

Game 4 Update: Recent results managed to turn some of you optimists into pessimists this game which didn't help your cause. City actually scoring however allowed some of you to still pick up a point. It certainly makes your choices for the weekend interesting

A handful of people got the result right and @farsleybantam , @Eddie Hitler and @Bantamshell all managed to get the correct score. None of them predicted the correct scorers though so it moved onto the tiebreaker. @Bantamshell predicted the 50th minute and @farsleybantam and @Eddie Hitler both choose the 37th minute. So for the bonus points, we had to go on to who posted first. So @farsleybantam received 5 bonus points and the other two received 3.

Despite scoring a big fat zero last weeks leader @broadsword retains the lead on 17 points but those 3 have made second place interesting. We now have a 7 place tie for second between @Lord Bobby , @Foghornleghorn , @Gardscoigne , @Bantam-in-Greece , @Eddie Hitler , @Bantamshell and @farsleybantam.

We still have 12 players yet to get off the mark but everyone still has plenty of time to get points on the board and put in a real challenge.

Game 6 Update: Well that was the highest scoring round by far. All but 6 of you who entered scored points. Mostly through predicting a loss but even many of those who went for a win managed to pick Doyle to score.

It took 6 games but we actually had our first perfect prediction with @farsleybantam predicting the result, the score and the City scorer correctly. That scored him 6 points plus the full 5 bonus point. @Chrisako wasn't far off with the correct result and score but missed out on the goalscorer but still takes home the second biggest haul of 5 points.

While those points see @farsleybantam take the lead the rest of the top20 hasn't changed all that much. Although @Chrisako does join the top 20 having started the day outside the top 40

Anyway, with the midweek game being the Football League trophy the next round will be next Saturday for the trip to Blackpool. It may be more fun to spend 90 mins looking at the Illuminations than watching the match but its also a winnable game so I'm expecting a wide range of predictions

Game 7 Update: Well that was a crazy match. Those last 7 minutes really threw this competition on its head, a good number of you had a boatload of points coming your way then 7 minutes later everything was turned on its head.

Our biggest scorers this week were @bantamlad92 and @Bantam-in-Greece who scored 3 points for predicting a loss and a goal from Doyle. Predicting that the first goal would be on the 52 minute @Bantam-in-Greece picks up the full bonus points of 5 while @bantamlad92 takes home an extra 3.

@farsleybantam retains top spot adding an extra point but the lead is cut to 2 points with @Bantam-in-Greece moving to second place.

Game 10 Update:

A decent point for Bradford resulted in a low scoring game in the prediction league. Only 9 people scored any points and no-one predicted a no score draw. These 9 were @Steve1970 @JonButterfield @RonnieBrown @broadsword @Bigrod @Bantam-in-Greece @JimmyBantam @Chapter Two and @Ashton . You all pick up 3 bonus points. As there was no goal the tiebreaker comes down to the first yellow, this was awarded in the 33rd minute which means @Ashtons tiebreak answer of 37mins grabs him the two extra points.

So what has this done to the table, for such a low scoring game there was a fair amount of movement. @Bantam-in-Greece haul demotes @Nick_W_ to second. @broadsword moves upto 3rd moving @farsleybantam down into 4th. @Ashton moves up 5 places to joint 4th, @JimmyBantam moves up 6 places to 13th, @Steve1970 moves up 9 places to 15th. The biggest movers was @Chapter Two who moved up 19 places to 28th while @Bigrod & @JonButterfield moved up 14 places to join @Bratfud at 20th
