With all the comments about what's quality and what isn't, let's actually look at what our rivals managed to sign

After all we can only judge what's good, in comparison to the level we're playing at

Note, I've concentrated on what looks the best in terms of goal scoring ratio (rounded up or down) and then taken into account what level they've scored them at. Used this and last season for the main stat, but also considered their actual quality (in terms of where they've historically performed) and age etc

I've highlighted the ones I think are better than ours

    Here goes;

Us: Novak - 1 in 3. Last season at League 1 level. Declining (assumed once over 30)
    Guthrie - 1 in 4. All at L2 and 1 in 3 last season.

Cheltenham: Tom Nicholls - 1 in 10. All at L1. Has a past 1 in 3 L2 ratio, but not for 4 yrs

Crawley: Ibrahim Meite. 1 in 4. All at NL. Low number of games, but has potential
Danny Johnson. 1 in 4. Good ratio at Motherwell but best spell in NL (2015-18)

Newport: Billy Waters. 1 in 6. All at L2. Has a 1 in 4 for his 2015-17 Cheltenham spell

Oldham: Danny Rowe: >1 in 2. Great last few seasons for Fylde.

Plymouth: Ryan Hardie. 1 in 3. Slight dip at Blackpool, but is an improving youngster, with an impressive 1 in 2.5 at Livingstone (resulting in his Blackpool transfer)

Salford: Tom Elliot. 1 in 8. At Championship level. One season of success at NL level
James Wilson. 1 in 8 but at a higher level. Reported £10K per week

Stevenage: Simeon Jackson. 1 in 7. Declining player. Done nothing of note since 2011
David Parkhouse. >1 in 1. For Derry City and only 9 games. Youngster

So really only Swindon have had a terrific widow in terms of forwards

However, someone like Danny Rowe could probably have been bought in - if the Doyle farce hadn't been allowed to fester, i.e. if he'd remained at Swindon, we'd have had more choices

But having said all this, in the context of what everyone else as done Novak and Guthrie are good signings

Sadly, not certain we needed both and we definitely needed a midfield enforcer

Did only 8 teams purchase forwards?

He’s trying to drum up some positivity by defending the signings of a Scunthorpe and Stevenage reject.

Nothing new really, just a typical Banbrotam post.

Some of us can discuss more than one subject. I've posted about today's farce and been critical about it

Plenty were slating the striker signings. It occured to me, to look at what other clubs had done to get some relativity

Or are only negative "lets get rid of Bowyer / or Rhodes / or Rupp" articles allowed?

I highlighted the ones, that had some kind of pedigree. Possible I've missed one or two if they were last minute

Did you look at the ability of the strikers those clubs sold, or just the competition for places that they brought in?

Both. Hence, I see the Danny Rowe one as a real miss by us and rate Ryan Hardie

I don't see the outgoings listed, where can I find them?

You've slated someone for daring to discuss more than today's result on a frigging club forum and then this is the best you've got, when they point this out? More hilarious non responses. However, I can't be cheered up after today's results

Because there are far more important issues to actually deal with rather than trying to justify your positivity to yourself.

    See below

I see where you're coming from. Quality of incoming compared to quality of outgoing

However, that doesn't mean that the incoming player shouldn't be judged by the standards of what the league rivals purchased

Virtually all the clubs had ambitious targets, but the likes of Pittman, Agard or any other 'guaranteed' 20 goal per season L2 quality player stayed where they were

So the relative quality of strikers purchased compared to what everyone else bought is of no importance?

I initially thought the signings were poor. I then looked into what everyone else had bought and realised that they are not

If you'd rather not consider that, then more fool you

For as long as Boreyer persists with Reeves and Taylor in CM it won’t matter who starts upfront

There's also the fact that most teams are looking to back up what they've got. Not replace their forward line completely.

No I don’t, my comment about you having your head in the sand is more down to the fact we’ve just had our arses handed to us by a poor Oldham side and our manager openly admits he had no idea why or what happened. Add to this the increasing toxicity towards our manager in the stands and on social media..

With all this going on you have taken the time to prepare this analysis a few minutes after the game has finished in what I can only assume is another attempt to add some positivity in to an increasingly dire situation... hence my head in the sand comment.

Apologies if this caused offence but I am literally seething with the lack of activity from the club after that.
