One of many issues that City had last season was that we were relying on Wyke to play the target man/hold up role which would leave him behind the play when we needed him in the box to put the ball in the net. Grayson selecting Brunker took that strain off Wyke and he started scoring again. But even without Brunker, Grayson used Lund to get someone else to join Wyke in the attack and they both chipped in with goals when we were hugely lacking.

Whichever route we go down (should Wyke even be here come 4th August), Dennis could help by simply being another option who knows how to put the ball in the net. I'm confident that Alex Jones should help next season as well. But Dennis would be a welcome addition at the right price.

 

There are a variety of goals here.

And if you compare this signing (on paper) to the Poleon signing, he looks a world beater.

Think he would be an option for sure. Wyke/Dennis/Jones and then preferably someone better than Brunker.

It should be the end of McCartan and Poleon.

 

Then he will not sign another contract ?, in fact if he wants out why not just walk and tell the club he'll look elsewhere, he's out of contract in June.

 

The T & A reckon he has a year left on his contract?

 

Watching that video he looks like just the kind of player we've needed for a while, i.e. someone who can score from all areas, both inside and outside the box.

I can see him and Wyke linking up really well and boosting each others goal tally in the process. Shame he didn't come in January.

Not according to this comment from Simon Parker, when I first posted about Dolye turning the clubs offer down I said there were other interested parties, that might be the reason for Doyles wifes comment on twitter/facebook.

 

Maybe more what the club are saying to Doyle or possibly not saying.

Your absolutely correct - he is contracted until the end of next season and hence the reason he cannot walk and why Chesterfield are right to want a fee - as we would under the circumstances.
