Kid Gloves?

That's the way it works, if they can the big 6 will plunder every young player who can put one foot in front of another and then 95%+ of them get dropped along the way.

 

As with any football team you need a blend. If you put 11 kids out on the pitch, at any level, they will likely struggle over a season with no older professionals to help guide them through certain obstacles. We seem to be following a similar idea keeping the likes of Doyle, Killa and NKP around. Plus Wyke, Reeves, Dieng etc aren’t exactly kids. So I have no issue with us looking to promising youth players but it’s about striking the right balance.

Sadly in football patience is rare so I imagine if we get off to a slow start fans will be baying for blood.

 

England are going to the world cup with arguably the worst team we've ever had at a major tournament. We will see in June if youth will work for them.

 

I agree but when we've had the Golden Generation they failed badly when they were called upon once they qualified.

 

Got bullied at times at home this season with experienced players. What I think will drive fans away is if we have a similar number of negative results like this seasons.

 

When I saw the title of the thread I thought we 'd signed our new goalkeeper.

 

I can't believe nobody got this. We're looking at youth and development for the future. So "kid gloves" would be an ideal signing. Never mind. I'm only writing this shite because I've been through all the latest threads and can't find anybody to disagree with.

Don’t think that’s quite right. He said we needed a balanced side of older heads middle age groups but not afraid to introduce youth players with the remit of improving players. People like Mcarten who we need to get the best out of

Im sorry I .must have missed the clubs official statement saying we no longer wanted promotion. !!

 

Well last year, we heard it all the time. Not least just after Wembley when Rupp said we are going for automatic next season, both me and Stuart thought the same, we are going for it, we buy talented experienced players like Sheffield United did. Only in January Edin saying we are still going for autos. Now this season, the whole promotion scene has been downplayed. We still don’t have a manager, Edin wants to bring young players into the squad, and no mention of increasing the budget the opposite will probably be the case, as the take up of season tickets has not gone well. There has been no official announcement from the club how the extended dates for buying season tickets has gone. So unless Edin is going to do a Houdini, I am not expecting a push for promotion.

 

But you not expecting it and the club not going for it are two completely different things to be fair.
