Youth seems to be doing ok for them. Any reason it won't work for us?

 

Going down the youth route isnt going to work over night, you could be talking years if it ever works at all. Im personally not that keen on seeing us treading water for the next few seasons with a weaker squad in the hopes of uncovering a good young player, only for us to sell him on and start again.

Ideally, we will bring in 4 or 5+ quality senior players on decent wages and supplement them with younger lads.

Yes. England have a choice of the best young talent whereas we are fishing in the shitpool for ours.

 

I have absolutely no issue with the club pumping up the squad with Staunton, Hudson, Hawkes, Clare etc as cover providing they are ready and good enough. These lads ain't going to be in the starting XI. Much rather that crop above than endless not so good loans from other clubs as cover - Penny, Field, Toner etc.

The strategy is absolutely correct. It just requires balance.

 

Never booed at any game or player it's moronic and doesn't help the situation. People leaving in droves might make them think that they were rubbish

I don't think you have an option to be honest, you have to lower your expectations at least for the next couple of seasons. There's no point have an expectation of getting promotion next season when we are starting from near scratch again. It's not going to happen.

As for patience, I may be wrong but I think if fans actually see players busting a gut, trying to create things, trying to play football, getting shots in, taking chances they do tend to be more patient.

 

Most clubs will be in our position apart from the ones that come down with parachute payments and chairmen who have extremely big pockets I think you will find most 1st division clubs will be scratching around for young ones or What s left . The teams coming down hoover up all the really good players I'm afraid it will always be like this now for years to come. And we have to hope that we pick up good young ones that reap benefits for the club

 

So it is happening then. We no longer believe we can achieve promotion? So last season really was a horror story! Can someone explain to me why after all the promises whoops sorry aspirations we now are no longer interested in getting promoted

 

This is the cream of the crop youth and ours is not? Come on, it's not difficult is it.

Didn't you make the Blackpool game ?, that afternoon they deseved every thing that was sang/chanted, some actually saying it was a wake up call, truely shocking for a pro footballer when fans have forked out good money and they didnt give a toss on the day.
I'm not one for booing or chanting, but that afternoon they deserved the fans wroth.

 

Yes, they pick the best youngsters in the country. We fish in the shitpool looking for rejects that may come good.

 

We can achieve promotion but I don't think we will, especially at the moment with not knowing who our head coach will be and what players we will have.
