Kevin McDonald’s Bradford army

Yes I've posted Simon Parker believes the club are in no hurry, wether McDonald can do the job is up for debate but certainly so far he's done well.

 

My concern with what the T&A have reported today is that there's an element of McDonald is fine until things start to go wrong. Everyone is happy now because the response to Hughes' sacking from the players has been strong. But I fear it won't be long until McDonald is thrown into the same category as Trueman & Sellars were when they faced a period of adversity.

Our next two fixtures are against sides sat in the top 7 so it could unravel very quickly. To read that the club isn't in a hurry with the process of hiring a new manager is a worry - especially when McDonald has been clear that he wants to continue as a player. Doesn't suggest there's a clear plan for what's next.

 

Yeah I've no problem with that, he seems an amiable sort of of guy. Football has changed since the days when I started watching, it's impossible to play and manage these days. Need to be detachable from the players, something that Stuart struggled with when a first team manager.

 

Of course you're allowed to give your opinion. I'm just pointing out that it's wrong by quoting the man it's actually about.

I'm not sure how that's interpreted as "silly back chat" but I suppose there's none so deaf as those who don't want to hear.

You never know how a manager reacts until that scenario happens let's hope until Hughes replacement is found we don't find out, McDonald handing over the regines to his sucsesser with an impressive 3/4/5 winning run as our caretaker manager.

 

What is it that's worrying you about the club taking time, carrying out due diligence and interviewing a number of potential candidates, and what makes you think that appointing someone quickly would be better and mean there's a clear plan for what's next?

 

Agree.
Isn’t what the club are hopefully doing exactly what the majority of the fan base have asked for every time a manager is sacked?

 

Think we need to look at McDonald over the next 2-3 games before even considering offering him the job.

Exactly. Look at the last time, where rumour was Wellens was in the box seat only to be ditched once a glory appointment unveiled itself.

Let's just make a permanent appointmet and keep McD in the house.

 

He has already support from a couple of senior players and Trueman who can manage. Yes his previous stab at it failed but I am sure he will have learnt a lot. So if he was actually all on his own then of course that would be unmanageable.
Let’s hope our Kev continues his success so far and that doesn’t mean winning all the games. This then gives the Board time to get in the right man.


KT says he wants to continue to play as that was his plan. My experience is that having a plan us really good but opportunities don’t necessarily fall in with our plans.

 

On the contrary they are taking there time to get the right man

 

Kevin Mac as player manager with Truman and Derbyshire on the touchline is the best option by far at the moment, He has all the skills needed and knows the players and what they can give

 

Going to change my vote from not sure. Maybe it’s time to bring that head of football in and let him deal with the day to day stuff while Big Mac concentrates on coaching and playing

 

That would actually make some sense.

We wouldn't need an old head managing the entire club from top to bottom, we could just have a useful-looking coach and let him get on with it for the time being.

But like you say, DoF required for that, otherwise we just end up asking McDonald to run stuff he probably doesn't give a toss about.

 

After listening to his pre match press conference and his post match interview I think he quite fancies the job now.

 

Contrary to what people think they heard.
I don’t ever recall him saying he didn’t want the job.

I have heard him say I want to remain a player until that changes, or told otherwise I’m happy doing what I’m doing.

Not hints but very selective choice of words leaving the doors wide open.

Only three games in , but so far, I’m very , very impressed with the refreshing honesty from KM and the attitude of the interviewed players . They really seem to like him and his pragmatic, front foot approach to how the simple game should be played.
