Kai Brünker

I thought Wood played okay, but was clearly targeted for long periods. They got several dangerous free kicks out of Wood and NKP, and they really ran that channel particularly in the first half.

It was a competent display, but I'm reading much higher praise than I expected.

 

When he had been on for about 5 mins, he had an easy pass out right. Shame was, he hit it harder than most players can shoot. Don't know if he can shoot that hard but we will know that answer if he actually ever manages a shot. The answer to David keeps bringing him on; like all of us David can see the desperate need for a target man and he is all we have.

He was remotely worse yesterday than at Wimbledon. Just.

He won a few headers at Wimbledon, ran a lot. Yesterday, absolutely terrible.

We went down to 10 men when he entered the field of play.

he was hilariously crap on Saturday. a liability. it was like taking a man off and not replacing him.

I'm not bashing him though, I bash the people who decided to bring him to the club, and insist on continuing to pick him.

 

I think the question should be, "is he a "professional" quality footballer. The answer is no.

 

Rahic and co have really stitched him up. The level he was playing at previously should have been a clue to not being up to the task. It's not like his goal record was like Ross Hannah's in the German lower leagues, so I don't know who (Rahic or Abbott) thought he was going to provide a goal scoring option for us needs to hang their head in shame. Can't see him playing professionally again once he leaves.

 

He will be knocking on a bit now though Loz!

 

The question isn't how good or bad Bruenker is but why does the manger pick him. It's no good saying "because we haven't got options" because we have. Limited but we have (e.g. Ball and Miller up front). I think at the moment it's just that with the rest of the players we have Hopkin knows that a great many balls are just going to get hoofed up front and maybe Bruenker will be enough of a nuisance to give the opposition CBs a harder time. Or he might be brilliant in training!

 

Not becoming maybe but I think Mr Bruenker gets an easy ride tbh. Compare this to our third highest goalscorer of all time. He got pages and pages of abuse if his scoring ratio fell slightly below what was deemed satisfactory and anyone posting like you have would have been shot down. Bruenker's got 5 pages, most of the posts are about something else and a large proportion are in support of him. I think this must mean apathy has really set in amongst supporters or he's getting an easy ride for his comedic value. Let's hope the bungling German is still funny come May.

 

You make a very good point. However, I have no idea why he keeps gracing the turf at VP. I am presuming this is another Rahic signing and he must want him to play, no idea why he does tbh. If you look at him as a target man for any league 1 club, he is just not up to the job. His heading is atrocious which I would have thought was a must for a target man, the ability to pass the ball to someone in the same team appears to be absent as well, his nuisance value is questionable. I realise I am being harsh, but looking at him as a league 1 player, no league 1 club would be banging on our door for this player, so in essence why should we want him?

 

If this is the case surely the question we should be asking is why does Hopkin keep picking him?

 

Yes I am asking the question, I know we are short, but we do have a young target man well he is tall, we brought him in from Barnsley. Tom Clare, I am not sure how good he is, but surely given our current situation we could give him 10 minutes just to see how he does?
