I don't get the hatred towards JR. He was basically asked to take over the captaincy of the ship after it had hit the iceberg.
Okay he wasn't the 'face' of BCFC but it was no secret he was just keeping the seat warm. Hence why I doubt he's in the frame to take over from Ryan. Nice conspiracy theory but I aint buying.
As for Ryan, he seems damned if he opens his mouth and damned if he doesn"t. I like the lad. He doesn't appear to suffer fools gladly and he is clearly ambitious and keen to drag this club up by its boot straps. He may well see the club as a stepping stone but he needs a well run, successful club on his CV if he wants to progress to bigger things. No harm in that.
So far the changes he"s implementing are all positive steps. But he seems to be meeting the same kind of cynicism Richmond met when he first took over. Hardly surprising given the years of dross and failure we've had.

Rahic, as destructive as he was, shouldn't be used as a convenient straw man to justify failure or lack of progress.

Other basket case clubs seem to be able to get their sh*t together on the pitch (Coventry, Blackpool, Bolton).
Not to mention the plethora of glorified pub teams that have over taken us in the last few years on shoestring budgets.
So it begs the question why on earth do we need 5yr 'transitional periods' when we have one of the most competitive budgets in the division? Yet we can't even make the playoffs?
As Roy Keane would say, it's 'nonsense'.
With the right ethos, the right setup, the right mindset we should be pissing this league.

Sparks is right about one thing... its an embarrassment that were still in this league.
And the club hierarchy (inc directors) need to show a bit of humility and take some responsibility instead of pointing the finger at Rahic years after his departure.

By my reckoning the start of the season will be longer since Rahic left than the time he was at City. To blame him now is starting to be a stretch of credibility, this season coming, there can be no excuses for failure. It’s on Ryan, it’s on the new manager, the players and if he’s still the owner, most of all it’s on Rupp.

He's been "helping" since he decided to put us into the second administration and apart from the brief period of success when Mark Lawn was co chairman, his legacy is very much negative.

Under JR we've pretty much always gone backwards so I'm really not sure what, as fans, we're supposed to be grateful for?

Like to know who they are. JR never made calls when he was there to my knowledge.
Ihave been in the ground, doing or planning jobs since before Christmas, had meetings with Ryan, no JR. Seen Ryan 3 times in last week, seen Fyan at games, no JR.
Spoken to JR himself on a few occasions since November, he's not involved unless Ryan asks for advice and as you know from interviews Ryan has said he is his own man.
No JR unless of course you count watching games by ifollow!
    Nothing to see here.

Let’s not go there again mate on the 5 year rubbish. Coventry and Blackpool, both with mass boycotts one still not at their own ground both got promoted at the first attempt from this god awful division. Bolton the same who have only recently been out of admin. Those at the top weren’t that interesting in going straight back up, or if they were they had no clue how.

This is where I feel sorry for Bowyer, yes his football was boring but he had no proper coaching team and had to use Drury as his number 2 or scouting/recruitment team as Sparks said the other week. I think he’d have got us up first time as he did with Blackpool if he had but was thrown under the bus by having to settle for what the club had. I can see Salford going straight up this season they won’t leave him short like we did.

Let’s just hope the new guy is backed with a proper coaching set up like Sparks said, because he said himself back room staff and fitness etc. are tinpot. If we were so desperate to go up at the first attempt these changes would have been made then. But we sold around 13,600 season tickets so Rhodes and Rupp probably thought what’s the rush.

Sound as usual Broncs. I'm not reading back to see who said JR still has an office but they're wrong, he doesn't and hasn't since he finished as Ryan took over. To be clear Ryan is in JR's old space.
The only other business in the building now, apart from BCFC operations is one office occupied by One in a Million, all others are gone, all the boxes have been redecorated for next season.
No JR and no anyone else.

Like he did last time. This is why this club doesn't go places! I wouldn't be suprised at all, if Stuart McCall was invited back to help the new manager "bed in". What's JR helping out with - packing hand sanitizers into 1903 gift packs? I doubt it. Sparks should just tell him thanks for all the hard work he's done in the past, but it's his ship now and JR needs to find something else to occupy his time.

To be fair to Rhodes he came back to run the club at a time what @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler described as taking 5 years to turnaround.
Whatever is thrown at him he has a lot of years experience in the administration of a football club and if he is helping out we are better for it

Maybe it stems from the time he steered the ship into the iceberg just as it looks like we'd swerved wide of it.

Not according to the other bloke that had a financial interest in the club. He was adamant that all icebergs could have been safely navigated.

Gibb said the admin was totally unnecessary, Gibb runs a highly successful theme park and holiday resort. Rhodes makes tourist tat to sell on the ny moors railway like welcome to pickering rock.

I know whose business id invest in and its not Rhodes.

Suppose McCall was a great footballer for us but some would say shite manager.

Rhodes was a shite owner and real bad CEO.

Doesn't matter if you are Bradford through and through if you are shite at what you do. The famous 5 year bollocks by @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler but Rhodes selling to Rupp set this club back 10 years never mind the 5 years rubbish blamed on Edin.

Unfortunatly Rahic was a disaster from the moment he stepped into Valley Parade, not merely financially but he also ran roughshod over sponsors, owners/directors at other clubs who had previously held Bradford City in highesteem.
It's just a shame Stefan was prepared to believe the stuff Rahic was telling him until it was too late by the time he was told the truth by two fans.

    This.

Why are teams that are on their knees getting promoted at the first attempt, and we take five years at a time?

Totally agree on the minnows overtaking us too. In fact, people laugh at League Two being the khazi league or whatever, but when you look at League One it's not much better....

As long as it's not him in charge of organising the piss up. I think many people would be left disappointed.

Not even sure we should be grateful to ML for anything. The only person that has "saved us" from appalling owners is Parky.

What do you mean "like he did last time" last time he was asked to take over from Rahics disaster and steady a rudderless ship by the owner Stefan Rupp.

Exactly. So what then, is the point of Sparks if he can't do it himself? I'd much rather the club operated on a clean sweep process, rather than keep involving people who have been part of the clubs past. I look at Fergusons involvement at Manchester Utd and just can't help feeling sorry for OGS. He's forever in Alex Fergusons shadow. Ferguson was on the pitch after the Europa defeat with his arm round De Gea. I've heard he even sits in the dressing room during team talks. Let Ollie do his job! Of course Rhodes doesn't have this much direct involvement, but I still feel that him being invited back to "help out" cannot do Spark's esteem much good.

    Maybe, maybe not.

Fact is though we've spent around 50% of the seasons since Gibb left in the bottom division.

Perhaps with better guidance that might not have been the case.
