Who’s in charge then, him or Ryan? Must be odd having your old gaffer around, I wouldn’t stand for it if I was made MD.

As I understand it Ryan is in charge, JR just helping out at a busy time, and it gets him out of the house lol :)

Nothing wrong with JR there. Sparks could have asked him to head up a specific project.

Refitting the bars with ice cold drought beer rather than damn tinnies perhaps. Someone needs to head such a task with a brewery?

Like he did last time. This is why this club doesn't go places! I wouldn't be suprised at all, if Stuart McCall was invited back to help the new manager "bed in". What's JR helping out with - packing hand sanitizers into 1903 gift packs? I doubt it. Sparks should just tell him thanks for all the hard work he's done in the past, but it's his ship now and JR needs to find something else to occupy his time.

As long as it's not him in charge of organising the piss up. I think many people would be left disappointed.

Depends what Sparks long term agenda is?

If he is using the club for greater things then he won't care if JR is about getting involved. As Sparks is out of here in 1-2 years anyway.

Having JR in the building is handy if Sparks leaves for any reason so he can step in to the breach again

I'm just not sure about that. Julian has stepped into the breach on a number of occasions, Bradford City through and through, and deserves credit for his commitment to BCFC. But he's not a great leader or someone who sees possible new directions and futures. Let's hope Sparks is.

To be fair to Rhodes he came back to run the club at a time what @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler described as taking 5 years to turnaround.
Whatever is thrown at him he has a lot of years experience in the administration of a football club and if he is helping out we are better for it

Park, you make good points here. Yep, he has experience and if he's happy to share that, we should accept it absolutely. But my point was, he was not a leader who had clout and a lot of self confidence which Sparks seems to have. Sparks continues to hammer home new plans, new future for City. Let's all see how that works out, but for me, Sparks is the best thing to happen for us for ages. He has ambition.

He's been "helping" since he decided to put us into the second administration and apart from the brief period of success when Mark Lawn was co chairman, his legacy is very much negative.

Under JR we've pretty much always gone backwards so I'm really not sure what, as fans, we're supposed to be grateful for?

Not even sure we should be grateful to ML for anything. The only person that has "saved us" from appalling owners is Parky.

What do you mean "like he did last time" last time he was asked to take over from Rahics disaster and steady a rudderless ship by the owner Stefan Rupp.

I don't get the hatred towards JR. He was basically asked to take over the captaincy of the ship after it had hit the iceberg.
Okay he wasn't the 'face' of BCFC but it was no secret he was just keeping the seat warm. Hence why I doubt he's in the frame to take over from Ryan. Nice conspiracy theory but I aint buying.
As for Ryan, he seems damned if he opens his mouth and damned if he doesn"t. I like the lad. He doesn't appear to suffer fools gladly and he is clearly ambitious and keen to drag this club up by its boot straps. He may well see the club as a stepping stone but he needs a well run, successful club on his CV if he wants to progress to bigger things. No harm in that.
So far the changes he"s implementing are all positive steps. But he seems to be meeting the same kind of cynicism Richmond met when he first took over. Hardly surprising given the years of dross and failure we've had.

Maybe it stems from the time he steered the ship into the iceberg just as it looks like we'd swerved wide of it.
