Worst CM pairing I have seen for many a year.

 

Absolutely awful player. Offers nothing.

Collins should lose his job just for making him captain.

 

How is Akpan even in the football league?

 

Embarrassing- we are a laughing stock.

 

Akpan needs to improve but I can see something there. Nigel Clough is a good manager and wanted to build his midfield around him this season.

Josh Wright is simply dog shit.

 

I think when Akpan got hooked; Wright should have instead !. But that would have been a damning indictment on Collins handing Wright the armband. I take no pleasure (because none of us know Josh Wright ). But even in this short time he has demonstrated nothing that marks him down as a Leader and Orchestrator on the pitch ? He's laying the groundwork for being remembered as one of the least appreciated City Captains in my 40+ years. Think of those that have worn the armband in your time ? Can you come up with a poorer one ?. Sadly his performances this far probably say more about the man who appointed him than Wright himself ?

 

If you make a mistake, put it right as soon as possible. Wright is not a captain, he talks a good game like Collins himself, but can’t produce a performance himself on the field. We have plenty of possible captains, Killa is one, O’Connor or O’Donnell. Reverse your decision!

 

The only person that needs to reserve his decision is Edin.

Who is captain of the club is the least of our worries.

Collins needs to go.

 

Mark Wright (Josh's brother, famous from TOWIE and ITV This Morning I believe from my kids!!) was in the Legends Suite with his family before the game but didn't appear after the game - maybe he should have played instead or maybe he was giving him a rollicking!!

Interesting that Staunton was on the bench...no Killa in the squad...again.....there does appear to be a lack of leadership amongst them I have to agree...

 

I agree with a couple of people above although he has by no means played well, I think Akpan May have something however he has been hung out to dry by having to play alongside the worst central midfielder I have seen play for city since Mike Duxbury. Akpan must feel like he is trying to play in midfield on his own as Wright cannot tackle and is never in the correct position, I did say today though on leaving the ground I can see why he was made captain as he is good at clapping and shouting the only thing he is missing is actually being a footballer.........

 

At least Nicky law passed sideways. And usually to his own team mates. That would be a huge improvement on wright who either passes back or to the opposition.

 

Funny, I mentioned Duxbury today as well. First name on the team sheet! Frank Stapleton love child, lol

 

Yes we have a chairman who talks a good game a coach also and then there is the captain - notice a pattern. Many managers select staff who are a mirror image of them selves - and in many cases that is when things start to go wrong. In the main to have a successful team you need people with different attributes/strengths to give you a more rounded team to deal with matters/problems.

 

Akpan looks like a player who's used to losing and being expected to lose. He's been relegated twice in a row, so that makes sense.

Wright looks like a middle-of-the-road League One player, which doesn't make him bad, but it doesn't mean he can control a game effectively.

 

At this current moment in time I would love wright to look like a middle of the road league 1 player as that would be a massive improvement on what he actually looks like........

 

To be fair, I don't remember many central midfielders City fans haven't hated.

My interest in the subject was piqued when fans said Schumacher was crap. He clearly wasn't. Since then, a raft of perfectly reasonable midfielders have been labelled awful. Nicky Law is the most recent, he was far from awful, and it takes a good deal of effort to pick one in the last ten years the fans were actually happy with.

I didn't go today, but watched on Tuesday.
The thing that got me on Tuesday, was I don't remember him winning a 50/50 challenge, or even one that he would be expected to win.
The next few weeks are going to be challenging.... so show some passion and commit to challenges.

Its a starting point... win the ball first.... then work on what your going to do with it.
