    people giving the shirkers a 'fresh start, 'clean slate' baffles me.

    these people stole a living off our club, downed tools and hid when the going got tough, had no stomach for a fight, and disrespected the shirt and the badge.

    2 months without football and suddenly we should give them a chance.

    I don't buy into that (totally) @Ricc@Ricc ....... But fair to say I get the point and sentiment. However ....... Let's not forget the release list from last year ! The majority who fall into your argument have since departed. Players such as Riley only played a minor role in your general address.
    So for me ...... The 'bit part' players are rightfully offered a chance to redeem themselves. :)

    You can remain bitter all you want and let it ruin your season but if Bowyer has seen enough in pre-season and puts last season down to lack of confidence, awful man management etc then I will be getting behind him and the entire squad to make amends for last season.

    The majority of the shite last season has already departed. And TBF to Riley he only played a small handful of games.

    I wouldn't even have classed him as bit part last season, he played 4 league games.

    The best guide to future performance is past performance. In this instance they'll be a bit of a rest now and then pick it up again in time for next years friendlies.

    You may be too young to remember the 2006/2007 season but I remember us getting relegated on a whimper with Donovan Ricketts, Mark Bower, Dave Wetherall, Omar Daley, Nathan Doyle, Dean Windass.

    Doyle and Daley went on to have decent enough City careers and are remembered fondly by fans.

    Youngster? He's 22. Should just about be reaching his prime. We can cajole, teach/influence to try and illicit something from him or we can concentrate on those like Lewis OBrien (2 years younger) that just seem to know what's expected and just get on with it.

    but the difference was Edin Rahic, I blame the players under the Rahic era a lot less because he made it a miserable place to work, to train, to play, to be around. we were tinpot and run by a deluded conman, with wacky ideas, and who undermined and hamstrung a very popular manager.

    but after December he wasn't here anymore was he, and the likes of O'Connor and Joe Riley and the rest should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

    The prime age for any footballer is 27-29 and that is pretty much common knowledge.

    NO argument from me. However - Players such as L O'B rock up at VP once every five years, or so. ON LOAN.

    Riley stepped from his precious, pampered Man U 'safe haven' to the pits of VP.
    It took a while, but I feel the penny has dropped, and the groom realises the Honeymoon is well and truly over, and that a Marriage demands damn hard graft.
