I wouldn't even have classed him as bit part last season, he played 4 league games.

But what about the players the season before who downed tools in January.. and McCall got sacked, you seemed to have a different opinion on those

Totally agree, the constant bitterness about last season has got to the silly stage now. Its almost like we've never been relegated before........its happened countless times. Players in all those times have come and gone but you start the new season with hope and optimism or whats the point?

Are we? I’d actually say quite the contrary. From what I am reading, it’s merely just some offering an alternative prospective to others.

I don’t think anyone is disillusioned that Riley hasn’t delivered on the expectation he arrived with. At the same time, what I read is that some recognise there are various circumstances that could have impacted that and simply happy to move on from the past and look to the future. If this includes giving Riley a chance, so be it.

Joe Riley needs to avoid becoming one of those players that puts in enough eye-catching performances in irrelevant games to get fans on side, but fail to win the manager over with his overall input in training and reserve team football.

We've had plenty of players that have convinced City fans they needed game time in the past, but the only players that need game time are the ones consistently giving their all across all facets of the game.

Talented divas won't get anywhere under Bowyer, he's clearly a Parkinson-type in terms of expectations.

I suspect that Riley has been told/realised that his immediate future is dependent on whether a club will come in and take his wages off our books or, failing that, whether City fans will warm to him. It might turn out to be the motivation he needs. I haven't been a Riley fan so far but my mind and indeed my heart is open.

Yeah, it's a possibility. But he'd need to convince so many of us, Bowyer included, that he's worthy of such support. Under Bowyer, I'm happy to give Riley til Xmas to prove his worth.

He stayed about two years too long at united, don't think he's played even 10 senior games yet.

He may be young but he's very inexperienced for a player of his age.

Yes Mr Hippo, many are forgetting that there's a lot of crap still this club that are responsible for us finishing bottom of the league last season. I want rid of them, unfortunately they're going to stick around another 12months.
If they play I'll have to support the charlatans, however I'll neither forgive nor forget.
I look forward to when that lot have all totally pissed off

Spot on. Can any of us really comment for sure as to whether he is good enough or not? He’s played about 5 first team games, albeit no worldy performances there. However from the pre season reports I’ve read, he’s apparently performed well.

If there’s a player in there that can positively contribute to our playing squad, rather have him than not.

For sure - It's more about what Riley can give us in the future (not the past), which matters now.

The prime age for any footballer is 27-29 and that is pretty much common knowledge.

NO argument from me. However - Players such as L O'B rock up at VP once every five years, or so. ON LOAN.

Riley stepped from his precious, pampered Man U 'safe haven' to the pits of VP.
It took a while, but I feel the penny has dropped, and the groom realises the Honeymoon is well and truly over, and that a Marriage demands damn hard graft.

maybe he needed cajoling or an influence rather than being given the cold shoulder and been made to train on his own away from the 1st team?

He was brought in under Rahic and Hopkin made his decision on Riley whilst Edin was still here. Seems like you're just picking bits from the whole picture to suit your argument. Maybe they are ashamed of themselves too. However I think giving someone a second chance isn't a bad thing.

Bit harsh on Windass if he was whimpering he was doing it in Hull. In fact there's so much to challenge in that post that I wouldn't really know where to begin.

I don't think its because we were relegated, as you say it has happend many a time over the years, but maybe many fans myself included reflect on why we were relegated, like it or not that is down to one man thinking he knew football, and would not take advice from people who were employed to do just that offer advice, in fact sacking some who had a different opinion to him.
