No Bannister on that team picture mate, which is strange as he is on the 1970 squad picture.

 

Just before my time boys but I saw some of those players later on 73-74 ish

 

R.I.P. Jimmy. Good times with that team.Goals in Bannister and Ham,
Tony Leighton too. Met Barry Swallow,(back row rhs on the end),and he was
running a pub over York way.Can't remember which one,but friendly
chat and he remembered his City time with happy memories.Sad about
Jimmy,the older you get the more players and staff pass away.

 

Strange as he made 30 starts! Good spot Dave.

R.I.P Jimmy. Thanks for the memories, memories that last a lifetime, especially that night at The Feethams Darlington, first promotion for me whilst watching City

 

Funny you should mention the Darlington game,I was talking to a Darlo fan last weekend at our 60s do in Southport I asked him if he was there that night he said yes you buggers took our home end, the wall behind the goals collapsed, on seeing that the referee took both teams off, Darlo were winning 1 - 0 at the time.
The police escorted us City fans round to the other end of the ground, the teams came back out and City ran out 3 - 1 winner on that Friday night, what a celebration the City players coming back out with booze and had a few beers with them.

 

Is that Ron Baylis between John Roberts and Ian Cooper ? What a great side.

The player between keepers is Bruce Stowell Bronco. The other keeper
is John Roberts.That was 1969/70 season.

Not at not at all @Bronco its great that us old codgers can remember all these names. I find it odd though that when I see pictures of our current squad I can't name many of them. I have to ask my lad, who's he?

 

My grandson comes in handy for telling me the goal scorers.
