I'd like to ship out 2 or 3 squad players and bring in another CM. Preferably a proven name that may even cost a small fee but someone to compete with Gillead and East to play alongside Smallwood.

And if the budget stretched, I'd also like a left back (can we move Ridehalgh on?).

Other than that, I think we're pretty much OK.

 

Absolutely, if he can’t survive on 850k a week he should be ashamed to need the extra 10.

Hughes should get on the phone to Charlie Adam and tell him to get fully match fit for January so we can pick him up then, None of this retirement malarky, he's got another six months in him and he could really take a team at this level by the scruff of its neck and do a Gary Jones.

 

Have said before we needed another centre back and still think we should get one asap

 

The team have generally failed to click so far 'and not done too badly result wise - it may happen and we kick on - but at this moment there appears to be something missing - is it experience in the centre backs or a Gary Jones type in centre mid needed?

 

I think we can do better than Songo'o and Sutton, and Harratt is a cert to go back.

Honestly wouldn't cry if Angol left and we didn't replace him, he's been very poor this season and doesn't suit Hughes' formation or tactics.

Hendrie isn't playing but we do need a back up right back, same goes for Odusina, and we've got some young lads that don't matter much anymore considering Ryan Sparks' idea of promoting youth doesn't exist anymore.

 

What we are really missing is Walker or Osedebe to link our attacking play. We need another No 10/creative attacking midfielder in January to provide cover and competition in that area.

 

I'd agree, but we seemed to be using Osadebe as a winger, which makes him one of many.

Walker, definitely, I don't think Chapman is better than Walker and he's too slow to play out wide. He's a useful, creative player, but I was more impressed by Walker last season.

 

I think we could trim the squad with the aim of bringing in a couple of quality players. Not convinced by any of the back 4 in all honesty, but if we were to aim to bring in 2 quality players, my choice would be centre back and a play making midfielder to play alongside Smallwood. Throw in a couple of tactical tweaks such as abandoning the 'playing out from goal kicks' and I think we'd kick on.

 

Chapman is in no way “ a Walker type” player. He’s the one covering because there’s nobody else. I have said it before let East have a go in some minor cup comp?

 

I think he is.

That's where he played preseason, and that's where he's played since.

I think there's an idea that he's a winger, but I don't agree with that at all.

Where would you say is his best position given his attributes?

 

That is a great question. he’s not a full blown 10 and he’s not a full blown winger as we think of both positions. His attributes in reality is he could cover both but not as well as true players in those positions. Utility player behind the front man , in the “three” is my best guess?

Yes he has that’s my point. He’s covered for Walker sometimes successfully but not wholly, and sometimes covering on the left. He got a goal from there. He’s a Jack of all Trades in the 3 but master of none , imho.
