January window 2022 - rating

In other words, we're potless but if we can scrounge a few quid then a last minute Guthrie type deal might be on the cards. Probably in a position we're cover in.

So if someone left then he'd just hope to sign someone up last minute... So actual intent to improve the team then unless we see departures. Baffling.

 

Our whole window's business has been baffling. Our priorities going into the window were a quality striker - and that's before the inevitable Angol injury, and a right back. Possibly an attacking midfielder/winger given Eisa's injury. So what have we done? Signed 3 attacking midfielders and a journeyman backup striker.

Bonkers.

 

We also need a strong tackling and hardworking central midfielder along with a decent CB who at least challenge the other two as our current backups are non-league standard.
This is on top of the right back and striker which were a massive priority.

 

Fair point. And we've signed neither of those either.

 

I thought Walker, Bass and Daly were good additions but I didn’t think for a minute that would be it. Even listening to Ryan the other day on the pod cast with the Posh chairman he was still Confident to make the playoffs.
Since then we’ve lost to Crawley and signed Theo Robinson mark 2. I’m well pissed off. 57 points still to play for and we’ve practically thrown in the towel.

 

Sparks before the season started, said "we dont sign injured players, we've done our research"....

Lee Angol - Barely been fit.
Abo Eisa - Barely been fit.
Alex Gilliead - Fitness wise, fine.... performance wise, crap.
Fiacre Kelleher - Barely played.
Liam Ridehalgh - One month out earlier on. Slight injury again currently.
Yann Songo'o - Signed injured, got another in pre-season. Had to build fitness during the season.
Oscar Threlkeld - Injured opening day, missed nearly a month. Few other injuries since.
Caolan Lavery - Few slight injuries, barely played.
Theo Robinson - Been fit, barely featured.
Dion Pereira - Sign with illness, injured ever since
Jamie Walker - Not injured, but looks like he struggles in the second half after not playing for so long.
Matt Daly - Fit to play
Alex Bass - Fit to play
Tom Elliott - Fit to play.


Of all the new players, only Gilliead, Songo'o, Ridehalgh and Threlkeld have actually been regulars in the side, not counting the newer loan players. But from the summer, the 9 players we signed, only 4 have been regulars in the side with 3 of the 4 having some problems during the season. Hopefully the Jan lads can have a run but seemingly only the keeper, Daly & Walker will be starters.

 

I've just changed my vote to MISS. Absolutely appalling window now. Not one of the higher earners who cant get in the squad off loaded, one player signed then immediately missing in action. A keeper who is decent but Hornby wasn't the real issue there, and him shipped out to leave the real problem on the bench. A rookie from the Dogs who was dropped by Hartlepool, one decent signing in Walker and another potentially decent (if played WITH Cook) striker.

Absolutely hopeless window, the club really have given up this season and Sparks should be run out of town for his lies about being ready to "strengthen" in the window.

 

Spot on in all but one respect

Eisa hasn't been barely fit. He's been never fit.

 

Eisa is the only real anomaly fitness wise as not had issues before that I can tell.

but it feels like we’ve rushed players back and got them reinjured and all the training DA seems to favour must play a part too. Kiyomya doesn’t seem to have any positive impact yet but maybe he’s not being listened to?

Based on the depth of the squad and quality, January's loans aren't too bad.

But starting from such a low base, it could only 'improve'. But as ever, we fail to deliver on key areas. Centre mid, centre half, centre forward. Spine of the team.

Together they are the exact opposite of the Holy Trinity. If they were monkeys, they wouldn't even be wise ones.

 

Terrible window. If Adams wants to a goal up and sit on it the rest of the game then he needed at least a right back and centre back minimum.

 

Appalling January window, appalling summer recruitment.. Not enough quality or numbers needed to fulfill the promises made by Sparkes at the beginning of the season. "No room for mediocrity, promotion is a must" yet those weve brought in (Walker aside) are exactly mediocre. Nowhere near good enough and from the quality of our play and the results, we're going to be nowhere near promotion at the end of the season. Rotten from top to bottom, disinterested owner, CEO who loves the sound of his own business buzz words, yet no substance and a stubborn manager who seems to want to do it all on the cheap. This for me is the final nail until we have some real change. I'm done

 

Adams does seem to treat the budget like it’s coming out of his pocket, hmmm I wonder what first attracted Rupp and Sparks to such a manager…
