    Yes, can't blame the player for taking the security of the contract. I do agree with @Faithful Bantam@Faithful Bantam about the timing of the departure though.

    Burke falls just below Davies in the pecking order. Davies was pure quality. shame he always had a 3 month injury lay off in him every season

    Fair enough. I can see that.

    What if you don't let him go? How committed is Canavan knowing that he's getting released in the summer and there's no contract for him?
    You're left with a Captain who doesn't want to be there and has animosity towards the club?
    The guys got a young family.
    I really think this is best for everyone.

    To be fair at BPA level football is different, it's almost as big a difference as a PL youngster dropping to League 2 and just like in that situation it can take time to adjust and he just wasn't at BPA long enough to of had the required adjustment time. Also, defenders do usually require some games with their fellow defenders, especially fellow CB to get on the same wavelength. You would be able to judge him better if he had 20+ games for them this season
