The reason I bring this up is because the Wright signing worries me. He has the qualities needed to excell at this level. But I sincerely hope GA an Gent are on the same wavelength as to the type of player this club needs. It means another change in formation. I know that GA isnt afraid to change things up when they dont work. But the timing of things feels off. The Lewis sale, speculation of Young going. Being sat midtable halfway through the season. Unrest in the camp an amongst the fan base. Talk of newly made funds not being made available. No better way of taking pressure off their backs than by signing a player whos already had a successful spell here

 

Walker did everything well on Saturday , although it was limited. I doubt many could have stopped their (good) goal.

After Walker coming in as someone we looked at in the summer, I'm guessing from a Doyle or Taylor recommendation as he worked with both previously, and now Wright coming back in, my only worry is that GA isn't having a say in transfers. I only say that to marry with Alexander's comments on Lewis' move when he said he wasn't aware of the fees or details.

Two guys in, two guys that Gent has scouted or signed previously. You'd hope these are signings approved by GA?

 

I personally think GA isnt getting a say on signings. His remit is he tells Gent that he wants a forward or a defender or a keeper an Gent signs whoevers available and within budget. Hence why GA is getting pissed off at confrences as he hasnt got a say in whats going on

 

Don’t understand your point the managers brings players in on the recommendations of Gent Wright is no different except he played for us before.

 

I wouldnt go that far. He looked like an average League Two keeper. Granted, he didnt have much to do, wasnt at fault for the goal. His distribution was a bit shit, but given that Lewis' wasn't much better, id say for the time being, it isnt a massive downgrade just yet

 

I doubt very much GA does not have the final say on signings. His position would be untenable if that is the case.

What is wrong with this club. As a few have said its just lazy and appeasing. Get out there, get proven quality (not loan) and start to build for the future. I'm sure we'd all be behind that, not this sticking plaster approach we adopt every 6 months.

If its a coup of a signing, it would have to be someone playing at a level higher. As much id love for it to be the likes of Wells, Reach, Evans etc I cant see it happening. Most likely candidate is probably Wyke but we were linked with him not long ago so wouldn’t see it as a major marquee signing, and even then, I wouldnt see him drop down to League Two

 

It wasn’t just a rumour that Burton want him gone. They can’t afford to be carrying a player on big wages and getting nothing back, even with a new manager.

The only part of the rumour that’s doubtful is the link to us. He’s going to Charlton isn’t he?
