And unfortunately his time with us has been an expensive one with regards his injury (which all plays can get) but more so he couldn't budge Cook from the main strike role only when Hughes rested Cook.

If carlisle were rumoured to have paid close to £200k for a goalkeeper who had six months left on his deal, what does that suggest 16-goal Young, with 2.5 years left on his deal effectively is worth? Surely over 500k.

Jordan’s post said Stockport were signing Swindon’s RB for 200k. Again, suggests we need to be patient with Young and make sure we get the right price.

Hopefully some of the interest is from a Bolton or Preston, has been suggested, or a desperate team like Carlisle who may fritter away a chunky fee as a last hope at survival. But it may well drag out the full month.

At least its not a player who has been starting and was key for us, as then we’d need to sign to replace his output while a deal is concluded.

As January progresses it may work for or against our favour.
However, if there's any on-going negotiations with the likes of Carlisle chasing him for a bit of a knock down price, then I strongly suspect in the scenario he's a big hit and his career blossoms, they'll be added payments for appearances and goals scored, also a significant sell on clause. So we're not left with too much egg on our face.

 

Weren't we interested in Stockton a few seasons ago? Big physical target man. Perfect replacement for Young - not! So that would give us Cook, Oliver and Stockton up top, all of the same mould (sorry to compare you to Oliver Cooky!) with misfiring Smith and AWOL Wilson as back up. Dear me.
