Your last sentence has just got me thinking. He certainly wouldn’t have been a good fit, I’d any manager? Those on here who defend the club at all turns, I’d be interested to get their genuine thoughts on what makes us a good fit for managers. I’m not wanting to label people on here or see arguments, I can see both sides, some are melodramatic after every result and some won’t have a bad word said. But there is still room for reasonable discussion. At uni I was taught to analyse and be self critical, so those who are more positive id be interested to get their thoughts on what makes us a good club to come to. Because I doubt we are the biggest payers and as a manager I’d want some people with some football knowledge at the club to steer it in the right direction. MK Dons, a club with a stadium far too big for them and no footballing history are a far more attractive prospect than we are, it’s a sobering thought and a lot of where people’s frustrations are coming from. Other than an inflated viewing figure due to cheap season tickets, I’m not sure what we have over any club in the football league.

Totally agree. You can look back through my posting history I’ve always defended managers for longer than I probably should and defended Hughes until it was obvious it had turned so far it wasn’t going to be viable anymore.

But other than seeming like a decent bloke, I’m not sure what we are getting with GA. I said after the Doncaster game we had gone too far the opposite direction in terms of style regardless of being on a good streak. The only other manager I’ve written off quickly was Trueman and Sellars. That’s two managerial appointments in 30 years of supporting the club I’ve not backed, both appointments made recently by one man, both appointments a direct contrast in style of play to their predecessor. If Pointon leaves blame Sparks not GA, it was never GA who promised us good football or player development. He wants to grind wins out at all costs with men not developing lads.

I honestly can't believe how quickly GA changed the team after a win in the nonsense trophy. Good for Pointon, I guess, but I'm not surprised it didn't get us a win.

The formation we're playing makes no sense. We don't have any wing backs, for a start. We're lumping it to Cook who isn't really a target man and it's making him look like shit.

He just doesn't seem to think it matters. Any players, any club, just somehow find a way. It's bizarre to watch.

 

My point is that if the CEO was saying one thing publicly and Hughes/Gent were doing the complete opposite of that, that's a problem.

 

Couldn't sum it up any better. Harry Lewis showed right now Carlisle can be judged as a more appealing destination. Instead of the usual soundbytes from incoming players (big club, big ground, shouldn't be in league 2) we should actually be questioning those kind of remarks as to why we are then still here in the khazi division?

 

Agree, however the timescales were different , we all agree that Hughes was spoon fed a bigger budget than originally planned?

As CEO though he'd have had to physically 'sign' off the contracts of all these players. It's not just a communications issue it's also an issue of him not having a backbone to turn around and say NO we're not signing that player because of.....

 

Look foward to seeing him next year RT. Carlisle were awful , Oxford were in a different league.
