Hasn't played in so long, I wonder if he'll take a few months in L2 to get fit, get form and get a permanent move somewhere in the summer when his deal is up?

 

Wouldn't have thought so. He was earning £20k a week it seems at Newcastle, I wonder if Mansfield didn't think the wage cut needed was worth the bid? Nobody really knows I suppose.

 

Wright is available for move, but with us not using wingers too often I can't see it? MacAnthony said Critchlow is next in line when Edwards leaves this month.

He was on SSN earlier this week talking through lower league moves. Said he expects Edwards to leave and they already have his replacement in house. Papers say they want £6m for Edwards, reported that Palace offered £4m this week, imagine he's gone soon and then Critchlow gets his chance.

I didn't realise he's 24 now. He's at that age when he needs to be playing regularly and that certainly won't be in the championship at this stage. Always seemed a good talent against us.

A back line of Tomkinson - Stubbs - Crichlow with Halliday on the right and a quality LWB is good enough for promotion. Shame that it isnt gonna happen though

 

Odusina is out on loan, you should know that. We will be top heavy to bring Romy in as well.

 

I think Kelly is better for the style we're playing, Stubbs too... we don't need any more CBs, we're very well stocked

Alexander is determined to cut the squad to reasonable levels which could lead to other popular players leaving. Fans love to quote their cull list and say we must get rid of Derbyshire, Odasebe and the rest of the below average players but no clubs are going to come in for them. Paying them off is no solution as it’s very expensive and you gain nothing and still can’t add quality to the squad. We need to see where we are at the start of next season when Alexander can get rid of some of Hughes/Gent players in the summer and hopefully replace quantity with quality.

 

Paying them off is the number one solution IF Rupp is backing Alexander and believes he will get us promoted.

Two problems though; 1. It's expensive and 2. We change managers so frequently perhaps he doesn't believe that GA will get us promoted and from a finance perspective its better tk get to the end of the season when contracts end and then players will leave

Finding clubs for players we don't want at this time of year is difficult because other clubs know we have too many players. Why should they help us? Oh but if there's good players they can take at an "acceptable" fee (not good or high but acceptable) then there may be other bids coming in.

 

Exactly this. We all know which players we'd like to go and which we want to keep but unfortunately, the ones we want to keep are exactly the same ones that other clubs will be interested in.

 

Anyone else getting that “last minute” feeling? Not a lot going on until the final day, which sees us ship out first teamers, with nothing coming in return until those late night loans making us reach for Wikipedia. I can feel it in my bones!

 

I'm really not expecting much to happen. GA is saying the same things he said in December and nothing has happened. I sense his disappointment and we'll probably hear it again after the game. Maybe he's trying to get action from above, I don't know, but this window isn't happening fast enough for him I'd say.
