We asked if this could mean the departure of other key players if indeed we are looking to cash in during the window? He advised that Bradford also asked about the availability of Conor McAleny but this was knocked back by the club so this isn’t necessarily the case. He also didn’t rule out more movements in/out over the remainder of the transfer window.

With this sort of comment I'd be going back with a bob or two more that statement hardly sounds convincing ?.

 

He's a striker, if he isn't contributing goal wise then he isn't contributing enough. If its set pieces you're worried about let's have some big hairy arsed centre halves who can be a target whilst also doing their jobs.

 

Absolutely. I'd imagine we've already spoken with the agent to gather if he's interested so maybe as the deadline approaches they could be tempted to sell, especially if the player asks to leave.

 

Completely agree. If we definitely want him he's available and probably at an affordable price.

 

Bit harsh that. There's more to being a forward player than just scoring goals. Kevin Davies, perhaps the ultimate target man, had a record of 1 goal in 5 games during his career, yet ask anyone who saw him play (and played against him), and they'll say he was a tough opponent to play against, and set up countless goals with his style of play. Gave a lot of fouls away too though.

I agree with you about the lad from Chorley regarding his record tho - should be scoring at least one in five. I watched the game today, and he played well I thought. Didn't score, but led the line well and made his presence known.

 

Icing on the cake for me if we could manage to bring McAleny in. Impressed that we have at least enquired

 

I doubt they could get away with that with their fans. Worth a try but hope there are more options

 

The were taken over by a man with no funds which the EFL didn't look in to ( Simon Jordan's words not mine) so it was never going to end well.

 

Yeah I agree those type of players can be effective and play an important role, the point was that his record in particular is woeful. There's no way to dress it up and I can't see him being in demand any time soon unless he seriously ups his output.

I don't think it's just extra money Park, a lot of players in League 2 that are coming to the ends of their contracts are going to looking at reduced terms, never mind increases.

 

What is going on at National League level, i thought they had a cap of £1 million so how are some clubs offering eye watering amounts to players?
Like us and everyone else they have no punters bringing in a cash flow.
Smaller squads?- wont be much less than next seasons 20 limit with L2.

 

Not adhering to Financial Fair Play protocol was their own downfall. If The FA took it upon themselves to implement their own rules, we wouldn’t need a salary cap - it’s that simple.

Honestly don’t think the owner cares. He says they are short of cash so think he wants to balance the books somewhat.

 

Agree getting him to join Bradford City would be great and a very good window.
