    spot on FB.

Richmond could wrap anyone around his finger. As a kid I remember begging my dad to take me to the Carbone press conference in the Kop. Place was packed.

Crazy to compare the differences in Richmond’s personality and Rupp’s, and their respective styles of ownership.

My kids are the same as your lad (eldest same age) - he thinks City are turd and has known little else really since he started going.

With PL games far more accessible to the youth of today on devices (legally or not) its an uphill battle getting any of them to City games!

If you pick and chose your games you can watch the best team in Europe, not even an hour down the M62, for tenner a ticket for kids and even £25 ish for adults - for the earlier round CL games and Cup games. It doesn’t even really make choosing Bradford City a no brainer when the Champions of Europe are on our doorstep at those prices, so I can see why they get distracted.

BCAFC will always be my club but easy to see why the kids don’t wanna know.

People’s views on Richmond are polarised, but I’d shake his hand and admire him for having a vision and dreaming, and having a go. He was a gambler, but he gave us fantastic memories which, as you say, nobody can take away.

Rupp would be better suited to a club that just festers in the lower divisions, gets a promotion once in a blue moon, and is happy to exist. There are so many examples, but BCAFC shouldn’t be one :-(

Hang on M8, I'd much rather watch a self sustaining team serve up turds every season in league 2. Of course that is said tongue in cheek, I understand the club has an owner whos ambition pretty much mirrors the city itself and as a consequence has severe limitations on its progress as a result. But damn what I wouldn't give to have an owner who could make us dream again. Because in all honestly league 2 football sucks big time.

Yeah, that game still rankles with me too. But what a period to be a City fan. Richmond was guilty of being over-ambitious. I'll forgive that. He gambled and it backfired. If ITV digital hadn't gone bust, we'd have been fine. But even in that relegation season, the sight of Bradford City beating Chelsea 2-0, not by being dogged and hitting them with a couple of lucky breaks - being on the front foot, and a better, higher quality team (on the day) than Chelsea will live with me forever.

    What could have been.

Tried to get my lad into it from 2007 to 2011 je simply didnt wanna know :( i mean the sight of me being bitter and twisted must have put him off............ now sadly what kid wants to endure crap football in a mainly toxic attmosphere??????

At least when i started going 1987 it was the middle of a good era ( football wise ) for the club

Richards apparently back out training with the group as well but unfortunately no Walker.

Ditto Fould's but Hughes thought Bola was the way to go, that turned out well.

Can anyone point me in the right direction where that transfer figure comes from or has been quoted by the club or anyone involved with the deal for £200k, Lewis was certainly one of our better players last season but £200k I can't believe that.

The one that involved promotion to the PL, survival in the PL, European football, a Wembley appearance for the first time in our history, the playing return of Stuart McCall, THAT FA cup win at Everton with THAT goal from Waddle, Chris Kamara signing a new unknown foreign player every week culminating in the great escape from relegation in the championship with a Brazilian playing upfront!, improvement on all 4 sides of the ground, a huge increase in capacity, a huge increase in attendances and a huge increase on the profile of the club.

Yeah, all that would scare me to death too. I'd much rather be told the club is 'sustainable' while sitting 14th in the khazi league and conceding 4 goals at home to Crawley town.

Apart from our two administrations everything was fine and dandy, the first being the start of a long decline.

You almost get the feeling some wanted Richmond to fail so we could go back to being the brow beaten lower league journeyman, like the working man being told to never step out of line and 'know your place'. The world where just being there to make up the numbers is seem more favourably than daring to dream.

The only reason we were able to have that "long decline" is because Richmond propelled the club far higher than it could have ever even dreamt.

People should at least remember that when apportioning the blame.
