I honestly do not know why ppl think the League 2 is the exception to high prices for good footballers. We have the Championship and League 1 players going for millions. However, League 2 can be where you go for a bargain basement price for good footballers.

We have to start being pro active with our players and make sure we do not sell them cheap. We are in a good position commercially as a club and therefore we are not desperate for cash. The club state we are ambitious and we want promotion. If that is the case we should be stating that we do not wish to sell Jake Young or any other regular footballers as it would harm our ambitions. Obviously, at some point it would be in the clubs interest to sell and we value JY at £1.5 million as is currently the market price for young strikers. This is exactly what Wimbledon have done.

Personally I wouldn’t consider selling him until we have evaluated his worth. Plus it would give us an enormous lift if he finds himself in the groove again.

If fan base is a stat that can be used to gauge teams but we could become a small club overnight if Rupp put our season ticket prices up to the top end of what league two clubs charge.
When I think of big clubs I characterize them with regards their history, most of your examples above are big clubs for Derby, Bolton, Blackburn, Preston having a very good history back in the day regular getting 40,000/50,000 plus crowds at their old grounds, you could put Burnley in there as well, but Rotherham, Plymouth,Swansea can't be classed as big clubs, QPR had a little time in what was the League One now the Premier but again could hardly be classed as a big club, Millwall and Plymouth have little history, and the little success Rotherham have had has mostly be quit recently under Tony Stewart since he bought the club back in 2008.
So back to our beloved Bradford City our history shows as I posted the majority of our time since we gained entry to the FL has been spent in leagues one and two as they are now known with the odd few seasons in the old League One (Premiership) and League Two (Championship), so I will have to disagree having a large stadium and fan base does not make Bradford City a big club.

I believe Oli McBurnie left for 250k to Swansea and later sold for 17million

Goals record not that great when sold to Sheff Utd

To be very fair, l did say we are not a Big Club, rather a ‘middling size’, which has serially underachieved.

Oh dear what? Its stuck in the 80s, dinosaur mentality, thinking we should sell for £300k.

Embarrassing when fees such as £500k for Crewe defender and £1.5m for a Wimbledon striker are happening before our very eyes.

I think the point is we got £250k for an unproven prospect nearly a decade ago.

Indeed but the original cost back then is not far off what clubs appearing to have offered for Young
It’s embarrassing from the club if he leaves for that money
But hey, let’s hope he stays yet

We did that with a few youngsters and still do, We have a few young players sold cheap with sell on clauses its the way the club chooses to sell players under the new regulations about selling players

You went on record ssying there was no money about for L2 transfers. A £500k deal and £1.5m deal are possibly happening as we speak.

So with regards the figures you are quite rightly saying what other league two clubs have received in the past what about a friendly BBU bet that if Jake Young does leave it will be for nearer £500,000 than £1million plus.
You say above "We should be bullying clubs for his signature not mincing about waiting for a cheap shot offer" not sure how selling clubs do that as with any buying club they have a limit to what they will pay, so we do as you suggest and hold out for the figure Bradford City believe he's worth bearing in mind he can not play for Bradford City during this time of negotiations as that would bar him playing for his new club unless they allow him to stay at Bradford City till the end of the current season, then nearing the end of the transfer window said club pulls out we are left with Jake who fails to deliver goal wise, I can see this board in melt down, with claims of we should have taken the £300,000 offer from X club, these are all factors both clubs have to weigh up, of course I'd like to get £1million plus but both you and I know it will not happen, let me know if you fancy the bet for a bit of fun.

Agreed but the days of big fees for youngsters is over the Premier League saw to that. The choice now is a low fee based on training fees with an agreed sell on or nothing
