What have we actually been officially told by the club? I can only find the announcement that he has been recalled. Anything else has been speculation on here. ( I don’t use BCAFC Titter / Facebook)

I'm not sure at the time Ryan could do a great deal, if as most believe it got to a situation where Jake lost his temper and told Hughes he was clueless or words to that effect, Ryan had to be seen backing Hughes allowing Jake to go to Barrow, I would think they would have had a fight in their hands with the PFA with regards sacking Jake things like this happen in life, he would never take Hughes on once the situation came to light.
It looked like he backed the manager again this season allowing Hughes to castigate the kid not wiping the slate clean, but sending him along with the kids to play 45 minutes at Horsfall against Park Avenue then telling him to find another club and I believe quoting he was surprised he'd not taken an offer from two no league clubs.
I agree I don't think it would harm the situation if Ryan did have a quite word with Jake, he may be young and a little immature but I'm sure he would see the situation for what it was whilst Hughes was still the manager at Valley Parade.

Well said Simon. Between them, Sparks & Gent (more recently obviously) are ultimately responsible for some of the absolute atrocious signings we have made over the last 5 seasons and unfortunately a lot of our fans are forgetful of that. They get off far too easily IMO

Agree but we are talking about Young , not sure where the dynamic duo come into it as by all accounts Young was and could be a good and cheap speculative signing? So was East. One could pay off eventually? I certainly see where the sceptiscm comes into the equation. The jury is still out as far as Gent goes for me Steve.

It’s not just the signings, things like the kadima sports thing really grind on me but as you correctly say that is for a totally different thread

Back to Young, there is a video doing the rounds of the players taking turns to tell the cameraman what their “walk-on” music would be, all very light hearted of course. Then in walks Young with a face like thunder, and says “well not Cake by the Ocean….Leeds scum..” :joy: (note: I think you’ll only get it If you follow darts?)

All about opinions lets hope you're wrong, but having said that I can't see him scoring at his present rate and wouldn't expect that.
I think your comment "his scores a few goals" is hardly accurate.....................

If Young does feature for us at some point, if he managed another 10 goals between now and the end of the season, that’d do for me

Agree especially if said goals were winning goals, no seriously the kid will know he'll be expected to deliver when available for the very reason he's been so prolific at Swindon.
I hope I'm wrong but I can't see the lad starting tomorrow I believe Alexander will continue with the Cook/Smith partnership but I do hope he's on the bench if not tongues will start wagging.

Not unsurprisingly , I keep completely out of things like Kadima , I have no interest in the commercial stuff.

£200k-£300k for a player with 30 months left, aged 22 and the leagues top scorer is a pathetic figure to accept. Unambitious and small club mentality.

The proof is in other transfer fees for L2 goal scorers.

Actually it was 17 appearances for Barrow but that doesn't tell the full story. His total game time there was only 538 minutes and he was used mainly as a late sub. If you look at his professional record overall since the 2020-21 season and compare it to Oliver's over that same timeframe (a player you seem to rate), Jake's stats are much more impressive - 5337 minutes in total played, 32 goals and 6 assists compared to Oliver's 8793 minutes with 34 goals and 10 assists. Young's average is a goal every 166 minutes played, Oliver's an average of a goal every 258 minutes. I know which one of them I'd prefer to keep.

Initial fee Exeter received was £1.8m. When Villa bought him Exeter received another £3m from the sell on clause.

You could tell Olly was quality, when he was at Exeter.
