Totally agree. If we're within 6 points of the play-offs, let GA have the money to move the squad around.

I heard it was about £10/15K ball park. Cant remember how the contract compensation for youth thing works and far too early and zero coffee in me yet to be bothered to look. But from memory it's something to do with 5% of the contract worth or deal as a wholes worth is still between the clubs the player has been signed to. So us and Wolves will have had a split i think? It's not going to be a great amount of cash anyway, 2.5% of a few years on L2 money.

I think your figure may be closer, £35K sounds too large unless any compensation deal can include our determined add ons?

Either way though, it's wasn't a lot of money it's probably the correct answer.

Incorrect again. Cardiff paid £1m for Max Watters who had 16 in 18 at L2 level. Before that - L1 0/6 and a few loan spells in the 7th and 8th tiers.

Mo Eisa is another one. 25/50 in his first season of league football. Bristol City paid £1m. Omar Bogle 19/30 at L2 level, £800k to Cardiff.

    I can keep going.

Yeh got it wrong but credit for speculating I suppose. We could only dream of paying these kind of fees now.

Wyke was a cracking signing for £250k.

I disagree. Strikers that score are like rocking horse shite (and as City fans we know better than anyone) and since the Germans came in we have have had Wyke and Cook and 20 or so other failures.

We are playing 2 up top, we only have 3 capable strikers. Unless we get offered daft money then he should be kept 100%.

Get him in that squad and see what he can do. Flog him in the summer if it doesnt work out. He will still hold some value from his Swindon spell.

On the 8th January 2020, we were 4th in the table. We recalled Eoin Doyle from Swindon. Despite his success at Swindon, he didn’t score for us.
On the 30th January he signed for Swindon on a permanent basis, we had slipped to 7th in the table.
For a number of reasons Doyle and City just didn’t work. Now it could be totally different with Young, or depressingly similar.
If his mind is set against playing for City, he doesn’t fit the system, he loses form on transfer, is carrying an injury etc, then he is of no use to us. Cash in and move on.
Success at one club, doesn’t always translate on transfer.

One thing they have in common is they were all flops. If Young does garner a bid it ain't gonna be anywhere near that. More like £250,000 and i think we'd bite the buyers hand off as the club needs the money to stay self sufficient.

He aint worth selling for £250k. Might as well keep and see if he can continue his Swindon form and GA can play to his strengths.

Like I said, its ludicrous to let a player who knows where the net is leave for chicken feed. We have seen countless shite up top and only Wyke, Novak and Cook have known where the net is over the last 7 years. The list of those that didn't must be in the 20s.

I agree. If all they are offering is £250,000 then it is better we keep him. Let him play up top. With the guiding hand of Alexandra and Lucketti he may well develop further. We don’t need the money that much. It would be like selling your house for half its worth.

Thats a fair shout. Depends on what the player wants to do, it isn't a given that the player wants to even come back. I'd be thinking twice especially when the lad is doing so well at Swindon. We as his employers have the final say but it isn't as simple as that, might well be that Swindon come up with a deal that suits both parties.

Our CEO has publicly admitted that he has to work with funds that are self generated and we don't really have any other saleable assets other than someone taking a shot in the dark on Pointon. Depends how desperate we are to balance the books.

£250K over the remainder of the season would give GA an extra £10k a week to spend.
That's two outstanding players at this level.

    Two words. Max Watters

Same age when he moved. 13 goals in 15 games. Very little FL experience before Crawley (5 games no goals) League Two Crawley to Championship Cardiff for £1million.

Save me a slice of your humble pie when you finally eat it.
