Focus on ourselves, if we fail to go up it isn’t because we loaned Young out it’s because we weren’t good enough.

    Good luck to the lad.

It's bizarre that we are concerned about one of our own being loaned to the mighty Barrow. It shows to me how we are failing this season once again despite the resources and the quality of individual players. The sum of our team at the mo is less than the sum of the individual players. For me, it's encapsulated in not having a proven leader on the pitch who has the energy and drive to kick the rest of the team up their arses when the going gets tough. We don't have a Jones, for example, who wasn't the most technically gifted of players but he more than made up for that with tonnes of passion and drive and crucially could instill that in others. We've lacked that all season and Young joining Barrow won't make one jot of difference to our own performances.

I agree. Good luck to him.

Not adverse to him Going out on loan, but who signed off on the idiocy of sending him to and potentially strengthening a club level on points with us in the promotion chase.

Absolute shambolic decision and if this decision turns out to bite us on the arse, then someone's head should roll

Mark Hughes master class in not giving a player a chance, while others are played every week, when performing poorly.

Also runs down blind alleys, gets frequently bullied off the ball and coughs up possession in dodgy situations.

I don't really understand why he didn't get more chances. The explanation coming from Hughes was weak in my view. We said we've done our research better on signings but here's a lad on a three year contract that the manager doesn't like for some reason.

Not saying he's a world beater but we've struggled for shots, assists and goals and now have Cook suffering the same fate as Young, Wright who has left and Young gone.

If Walker isnt playing we're stuffed because neither Gilliead, Chapman or Smallwood are going to score and we have about four attacking players on the pitch but only one really gets into the penalty area.

I don't remember the last time the manager was backed as well as this and frankly the outcomes so far are a bit flattering and underwhelming.

Doyle was a well proven goalscorer for years before he joined us and like many, for what ever reason it did not work out.
Young is a player with very little behind him, still time to come good though, but needs to knuckle down or he will go the way of many a young footballer. No pun intended.

Just heard Sparkies post match interview and I agreed with him, the kid was not happy with regards his game time and obviously in Sparkies opinion he was not going to be getting game time with regards our recent recruits, he did say he hoped Young helped get Barrow results against fellow promotion hopefuls, to which Jamie Raynor said that would make Barrow serious contenders and be challenging us for a play off place, to which Hughes said that's up to us to make sure we get the right results (or words to that effect).

Thats how i saw Young in the game time he got. Great right foot, probably the best shooter in the squad, but all his other attributes were average at best. Slower than most full backs which didn't help his tracking back (also see Dion Periara). If you can cross like Nicky Summerbee you can get away with being slow but you need those other attributes to your game like physicality.

Agreed. He needs games & development but not with a direct rival.

There were 5 clubs who wanted Jake Young this window. I wonder what they all see that Hughes doesn't?

I’m with Hughes on this one Idle. I’m using the Wright comparison to show polar opposites.

    Easily bullied
    Doesn’t like a tackle
Tracking back is not his forte
Running down dead ends and losing the ball all to easily.

Surely that’s why Wright came in and was first choice for that role.

On loan for rest of season

Not sure what to make of this one, he was a tidy player who could score, and Barrow could be in the mix come the business end of the season

I don't get this view. Lots of clubs sign young players on long deals because the opportunity presents itself and then, if teh player isn't making an impact, that player goes out on loan to get some experience.

I sometimes wonder, if we've forgotten this is how a successful club operates. This is now the way of doing things for us, in order to make sure we take the correct steps for the long term.

I agree with loan. Give the lad a chance to shine and develop but not to a rival.

    I don’t care

He’s like Pirera, likes the forwardplay , doesn’t like tracking back and a tackle.

He won't be allowed to play as part of his loan, and I'd wager it doesn't cover the playoffs

That's about home grown players. You lose a sub if you dont have any or it could lack of players. Either way not sure why we have loaned him to a serious rival.
