I'm not aware of that quote but those figures would be what I'd expect the average wage of our squad to be rather than the highest, given that the total playing budget is believed to be somewhere around £3m.

I'll be honest, aside from my pre-existing belief that lists like this are usually total rubbish, the biggest question mark around that list that makes me sceptical about the whole thing is regarding two of our ex players. There's absolutely no way that after being released by us Callum Cooke got a better pay packet from Hartlepool than Elliot Watt managed to get out of a bidding war between us and Salford.

A far cry from the days of Charlie Rackstraw and John Hall who were on £16 a week. I asked him a while ago how did we cope with a squad of just 16 players and he replied that you just played with knocks or you missed out on your £2 appearance bonus.

One thing is certain, Walker isn't making a fortune on his win bonuses.

 

He was injured not long before he signed for city.

 

I strongly suspect it will be bonus related ie, we will not have paid that this season. It will be based on goals and assists. It won’t be his basic which will probably £2 grand south of that!

 

However much we are paying him, we’ve had nothing back on our investment

Yes and when struggling with a knock during training the boss would say how are you for Saturday lad, needless to say the answer was "I'll be fine boss".

 

The point is, he still has a lot to prove as a Bradford city player. I hope he does and then I’ll shut up

 

I’m sure I’d he can get back to where he was towards the end of last season not only would we be happy I’m sure he would be too just needs a little time to get there and his rest and thinking time due to Saturdays red card might make it click that bit quicker

 

The frustration for me is, the 2 players I was expecting the most from have both failed to deliver.
Walker due to injury and now suspension and then Smallwood just hasn’t lived up to expectations. Perhaps when Walker finally gets a run of games it will help Smallwoods performance, let’s hope so because our midfield just hasn’t performed so far this season
