Assuming that we can get rid of the ones under contract that we don't want to keep, who would you want to stay if we get relegated?

I think it would be a knee jerk reaction to completely clear the deck. Some fairly ordinary league one players can stand out from the crowd in league two. I think Doyle or Ball could be 20 goal a season strikers in the basement division.

O'Donnell, Caddis, Doyle. The rest can get lost...

Keep Caddis and Ball if possible. Get rid of the rest.

None of the loanees will stay, so as much as I agree ball would be fantastic, he's gone.

Out of the others, I'd keep O'Donnell, Caddis, Wood and Doyle. Maybe Clarke too and at a push O'Connor.

    Rest can piss off.

Ball, Caddis, Doyle could do a job in league 2.

Have you a cunning plan? You are aware16 of them have Contracts for at least a year and some like O'Connor and Wood have contracts until 2021.

The following are here for another whole season!
    • O’Donnell
    • Riley (I am not joking)
    • O’Connor (until 2021!!!)
    • Scannell
    • Reeves (there has to be constructive dismissal)
    • Doyle
    • McCartan (although will he stay at Lincoln)
    • Mellor
    • Patrick (didn’t he do well to get that Contract!)
    • Akpan (l had Hoped it was not the case)
    • Wood (until 2021)
    • Gibson (the one with the family member who posts positive spins)
    • Sykes-Kenworthy
    • Wright (The only way is to Essex)
    • Staunton (who?)
Also Robinson who’s status is unknown.

O'Donnell, Caddis, Wood,Scannell and Doyle. But Doyle needs an effective partner or two, and he should get more goals in the 4th tier
Also keep Robinson, if not convicted

I'm already aware that we've got players contracted for next season which is why I didn't account for any in my post. If we're talking about the entire squad and exclude the loans we have no chance of keeping (O'Brien and Payne) I'd keep O'Donnell, Wood and Colville as cheap back up options plus the 2 already mentioned if wages allow it.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the likes of Doyle, O'Donnell and possibly Scannell have release clauses written into their contracts in the event we go down.

Contracts really don’t matter. Most of those will be pushing for a move and the clubs going to be eager to get them off the books and will be willing to sell to league 1 clubs when they may not have been willing in Jan

I said this in the shoutbox but the situation seems to be mirroring Hopkin at Livingston. At Livingston when he got the job they were basically already down so if it was Football Manager he would have got the brief of 'battle bravely against relegation' which he did and kept his job. It gave him the opertunity to then offload most of the squad and bring in those who fit his hoofball.

And it kind of seems to be what is happening at a City. December has put him in a position where he can argue he has battled bravely as you look likely to be closer to being safe than you looked when he took over which might save his job and then he can use the relegation to force an almost full squad change which the board wasn’t going to agree to in league 1

Not love in exactly, but they have a history of being good, but if they really don’t want to be here, the. Goodbye. If we go down there will be plenty of them leaving the sinking ship, but that is ok, we only want men with backbones who are prepared to work for a place in the squad.

    Two points

    1. We were not relegation certs when Hopkin took over, unlike Livi

    2. We were not closer to safety after that run in December than when he took over, as we were in 17th place when he wad appointed

He has failed miserably and hope to god he is not tasked with rebuilding us in the 4th tier

Think it depends what's in the contracts.

If relegation doesn't mean any pay cut or just a small percentage then many will be happy to stay and collect. You can't blame them for that.

That make from reading because there is only two players on that list that I'd actually like us to have and one who I wouldn't mind if he stayed.

    Doubt it.

Edin wouldn't have accounted for relegation. He thought he building a promotion winning squad.
