As for today, we wasn’t that great! We were battling but the quality in our team was crystal clear.

 

They would get us up! Look Sparks needs to grow a pair and get a manager in not for the fans but for success.

 

I said earlier today that seeing how Smallwood performed was the thing I was most interested in seeing and he didn't disappoint. I have always thought he was a poor captain with a sulky attitude but I'm starting to wonder now if that was because he never really believed in what Hughes was asking him to do but he had to be professional and follow his gaffer's instructions.

 

Nah, it’s been one game. Smallwood played well today considering how poor he’s been but I wouldn’t sing his praises yet!

 

Yeah, I'm aware it might just be a flash in the pan and there's still something about him that I just can't warm to, but I'll be very happy if we see a lot more of the Smallwood we saw today.

 

We need better in Jan that’s for sure.

 

Sparks needs to look at this squad closely. What have we got that can be considered as strengths?
• A decent keeper in Lewis (when hes on form)
• A settled an steady backline
• Last Years Top Scorer
• An abundance of wingers, with pace, trickery an end product all on offer

Then you have to consider other factors, Oliver for example who can allow us to play a different way, We can bring Young back in January if needed, We have players yet to get a run in the team like Tomkinson.

Find a manager that is capable of using these players in an effective system. Because if we bring in a manager who wants to play a completly different style of football, we're kind of fecked cus its hard to sign good players in January an my guess is that our budget at the moment has mainly been used up

 

If there were any managers watching that game yesterday that were previously on the fence about whether to apply or not and are either still on the fence or have made their mind up not to bother, then they definitely weren't the one for us anyway. When VP is rocking, there are few places better to be on a Saturday afternoon. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?

 

What astonishes me is how McDonald can see the problem in two training sessions and Hughes couldn’t in most of two seasons.

 

McDonald will just have different views on how to make the team successful.

Clearly Hughes could also see the issues but believed his way was correct and they could be resolved within that system.

 

The Hughes style wasn’t pretty to watch, far from it but it’s fine lines isn’t it.
Stockport away we absolutely should have won and Hughes was hampered by the injuries to Cook and Pattison after that.
Just those 2 points from Stockport and 1 extra win we’d be in the top 6 and Hughes would probably still be the manager.

 

Thank God Cooky missed than penalty then!
