How many remember this team

I wish we had the Paul Aimson (vintage 1968) at City today!

 

Remember the Wrexham game,we went a goal down but
responded rather well.Snow on the ground,Wrexham player
taking a throw in stood on the pitch due to line being obscured!
Ref gave us the thrown in due to foul throw in!

My dad said lets go at 6-1 up much to my dismay and while we
walked down Midland road we scored another! I wasn't pleased
we missed it...

 

Was the the game Bobby Ham got a hat trick ?.

 

I don't think Ham signed till later in 67/68 season.

Bannister 2, Rackstraw, Aimson 2 ,Swallow and Hall
got the goals.

Like to say we had last word but 71/72 they got their
own back in FA cup stuffing us 5-1 at their place!

 

We took the lead at Wrexham as well in that 5-1 defeat, just as they did in our 7-1 victory.

 

If I remember correctly the 7-1 included one of the best own goals I've ever seen. A corner by us went far too long, one of their players on the corner of the box tried to volley it clear but only succeeded in smashing it into his own net.

 

Didn't Charlie Rackstraw score an OG from the halfway line ?.

 

Don't remember that but the old grey cells aren't what they were.

 

I'm sure someone will confirm it or otherwise.

No I was meaning another game not the Wrexham game, Southport does ring a bell.

 

That was against Southport Dave in the 1966/7 season. Southport were a good side then and got promoted. We went into a 3-0 lead against them but just after Rackstraw tried a back pass from halfway and our keeper was asleep. It ended up as a 3-3 draw.

 

So the old grey matter still does works, nice one Captain I vaguely remembered it , but certainly not as good as you did.

 

It was my first season watching City Dave, a bit of a late starter as I was 13 and the 1966 World Cup got me interested in football. I remember the Southport game being a midweek match.
