That's not so. Until Angol was injured, they both played in the team for league matches.

I haven’t seen anything of Songo’O (early days) yet that makes him an automatic first choice. With his absence yesterday Adams must think the same way too. Sutton is a more of a miss for me. He’s tenacious and likes to drive with the ball.

With their desperate defending yesterday, we should’ve been mixing it up with intricate passes on the edge of their area to pick up free kicks. I’m also hoping Robinson can fit into the Angol position sooner rather than later, but that’s in hope rather than expectation.

Sorry ill clarify. It wasn't a fact it was my opinion, if Angol was fit I'd have on the right of the three of Cooke and Vernam. Gillead would be a bench warmer, he doesn't do enough to justify a starting berth.

Would love to accommodate all four, Gillead like Vernam is a good ball carrier...

Gillead is bringing exactly what he brought for Scunthorpe in terms of numbers and exactly what he brought for us previously.

He's never created or scored enough for an attacking player and it baffles me why he gets so much game time.

Right. Having watched this back on the telly, yes Threlkeld could perhaps have done better, but still not comparable to the Wright thing

Why Adams didn't bring another striker on at half time is baffling especially the way we played the second half. 2 points dropped today against the worse team I've seen this season and the performance in the second half was so predictable it was easy defending for Walsall.

And 1 goal and 3 assists in 44 last season for Scunthorpe. The boy has form.

Not sure bringing Lavery on would have made any difference, we dominated the second half going forward as you would expect, and had more than enough chances second half to win the game, unfortunatly you can't legislate for the poor finishing.

If Vernam could side foot or head a ball in the goal from 3 yards he'd have been key to 2 'harder to score than miss chances' in the last 2 games. His ball retention is excellent. He is versatile. He has a turn of pace. He moved into central midfield and hardly misplaced a pass yesterday. We don't get him on the ball enough out wide. I am reasonably sure Adam's sees him as one of the first on the team sheet.

    All IMHO of course.

One reason we didn't win is Walsall defended superbly. You really have to doff your cap to that rear guard reaction. They deserved a point for that alone.

It can’t be denied yesterday was very frustrating but it was good to watch with some lovely football from this level I just hope we have enough goals in us to achieve our aims.
I am disappointed Eisa is out at the same time as Angol because he can score goals and is a useful player

I would be much more concerned if we weren't creating the chances thats for sure. Yesterday apart from the first 5-10 mins we bossed the game and if we had won 4-1 it would not have been a surprise.
I was disappointed that we continued to play the same way for most of the 2nd half. Would like to have seen us get more of the ball on the edge of the box to draw some fouls and giving us a free kick in a dangerous area.

I noticed Robinson making some good runs along their back line and getting into some good space but was not spotted.

Walsall did defend really well particularly in the second half. But we continued to play to their strengths. Their two central defenders (and the third who came on later) were big and very strong and it isn't Cook's strength as a striker to out muscle or out jump big defenders. Instead we continued to play high balls into their area from the wings with the inevitable result. In fairness to Cook, he had little to feed off.

I suspect other teams will soon play similar tactics at VP knowing that Cook's threat is reduced when playing against big defeders. It will be interesting to see how Robinson is played and whether he can absord some of the pressure which Cook finds difficult to cope with.

Contrary to some on here I like Sutton also. Yes, sometime he can be a little rash in his approach but I really think his ability to make runs from the back offers something different to other CMs in the squad.

Adams reply yesterday when asked on Sutton was interesting, but pretty straight to the point. I hope Sutton can get himself back into the squad as think he definitely has a part to play.

I think Adams is a bit at war with the sport science people I think that’s what the remark was about we were told Sutton was undergoing a fitness test at Lunchtime. And there was the remark last week about Monday training
