Match Thread Home V Leyton Orient 23/02, 7pm kick off.

Orient played a really well disciplined game that's a great result for us they proved a tough opposition tonight.

 

Well done Trueman & Sellars and the players for grinding out a win in their least convincing performance since McCall was sacked. As the old saying goes, sign of a good side, and lets not forget, this against a side who were higher in the league table before the game

 

I don’t know if it was fitness related, but Rowe didn’t look right tonight at all...

 

Ugly February night weather, ugly game. We won. I'm shaking my head trying to believe this, given where we were at early December 2020. Five points off the play off places, with a game in hand. Shit and biscuits!

 

Lacklustre, but still think we looked shall we say far more competent than we did against Barrow and Exeter so for that I’m not saying it’s the worst game under T & S. I’m not gunna single people out for criticism either, it was one of those slow team performances in the main. But I will single one out for praise, Crankshaw thought he was fantastic when he came on.

Happy with that win, not just because obviously it’s a win but we kept going to the end. League 2 is full of them non events every week it’s those that find a way to win them that have a good season.

Also the stats actually show us as very dominant which is a bit of a surprise, thought we edged it. Just.

 

I wonder if Crankshaw has earned a starting place for the next game. He's looked more threatening than Vernam in the last two games.

 

Not the best of games but great to see us win ugly for a change.

 

Orient have scored one goal in their last six games. On that evidence, it's not hard to see why.

 

Rowe is still recovering by his performance tonight. Thats was a real ugly win superb

 

Its great to have options isn't it. Both done well since signing and you would imagine they will both contribute equally in the weeks to come.

 

T&S could see we weren't as effective as we have been and weren't worried about making changes early in the second half bringing Crankshaw on for Evans and Cook on for Rowe, Crankshaw making an immediate impact.

 

And Colchester beat Cambridge tonight, just shows what we have become.

Overall was a solid performance we did what we needed to do, Orient made it tough and gave us no time on the ball.

These ugly wins show just how far we've come.

 

Rowe likes to play deeper and get the space to shoot more like an inside forward and that is where we will get the goals from him, Leading the line does not suit him and it shows, We need to squeeze him in to either Evans or Vernoms place in the midfield three to link up more with Cooke and let the other Cook lead the line

 

Partly to do with them being disciplined defensively I think. Didn't allow him any room and think he was a bit frustrated. We didn't get the ball to him enough

 

For Bolton yes.
