Winning ugly, sign of a good side

 

Great battling performance from the lads. Ugly game but the only result we need right now are 3 points per game. Not bothered if we play great looking football. We really need to get out of this league so how we do that is of no concern to me. We beat a team who set up to spoil and we only needed one chance to affect the game.

Job done.

 

Ugly February night weather, ugly game. We won. I'm shaking my head trying to believe this, given where we were at early December 2020. Five points off the play off places, with a game in hand. Shit and biscuits!

 

You know what makes tonight even sweeter?

Vaughan scored two.

Doyle scored.

Oteh scored.

Morais scored.

Hanson got an assist.

And no gives a crap!

 

He also put in a really good sliding tackle in the dying minutes of the Morecambe game too

 

I just think it’s his laid back style and coming into a match at that stage it takes a while to pick up the pace of the match. He was neat and tidy and we can’t expect fireworks from him the whole time

 

Cook v Rowe v Novak will be even nicer.

 

There doesn’t seem to be one postponement tonight in quite a full fixture list, when was the last time that happened in this Covid world? It’s good to see.

 

Thats what you call digging it out. Low on quality with the ball, but high on character.

Crankshaw was the difference tonight, what a battle against a spoiling side. Brilliant

 

Not tonight mate, without Cookes performance we simply don't win. He's now our most influential player, he doesn't play and I'd say we probably don't win.

 

Good win and a really important one because we were off it for the most part. Different sort of challenge against a team who parked the bus and I'm sure T&S know what we've got to work on now to better break down these sort of teams.

POC and Canavan terrific again and Crankshaw was a game changer when he came on. Probably done enough to warrant a start on Saturday and I'd like to see Vernam on the left because I'm not convinced he looks comfortable on the right.

Tough game tonight think I have to give credit to Orient they came to stop us and they did just that. They pressed at the right times in midfield and looked organised in defence and we struggled to break them down they offered little going forward. I think we'll start to come up against that more often now.

Cooke again another impressive game thought Ollie and Cook looked lively when they came on and it gave us a spark when we needed it but we weren't quite at the races tonight. Elliot Watt is a player I really like but it was a match to forget for him tonight his forward passing was uncharacteristically wayward and he went backwards alot fair play to him though plenty of effort and he kept going when his head could have dropped. Chalk it up and move on though a wins a win 3 points oon the board that's the kind of result that sees teams keep a good run going.
