Fortunately it was just you. His HT warm up was something the non playing Cheltenham lads came out of their box to watch. Shooting from 35 yards and apparently aiming for the woodwork (ground staff working in the goal itself) he rattled posts and cross bar, the last so hard the ball came all the way back to him. Disinterested!!, don't think so.

I think it may be more of a case that we have a deal provisionally lined up for the summer, and want to make a proper judgement on whether its worth doing.

Maybe he was not happy that he did not start after declaring himself fit, I'm sure he will have a smile on his face when he picks his win bonus up ;).

I think when he came on he did a very professional job holding the ball up and not giving away play, a couple of times he could have run at the opposition but chose not to. Credit to him and the rest of the team.

If that's the case he needs to show more.

Cook's impact has been fairly immediate and I appreciate Stevens is a younger lad who's learning and will need more time but he is going to get chances throughout the season and needs to show more creativity or creation of chances. Think he'll have learned more about the defensive side of things at Exeter. Let's see how he goes in the next 5 or so games.

Keep in mind, he's only 20. In fact, he's only 4 months older than Kian Scales, and yet he has 20+ pro appearances including 4 starts in the Championship. He hasn't pulled up any tree's yet, but he's still very young. Bielsa has an eye for a player, so that's good enough to suggest he's got something about him that could be developed. Its amazing the amount of players who develop quickly around this age group.

It’s a bit surprising in that we thought that both Crankshaw and Vernham were both brought in to play on the left and yet along with Stevens all three have featured mainly on the right

That has been a feature of Trueman & Sellars tenure - playing left footers on the right and vice versa. Clarke and Vernam on the right, Evans and Crankshaw on the left. And Stevens was on the left when he came on on Saturday. They seem to prefer their wide players cutting inside rather than hugging the touchline and crossing from the byeline. It seems odd to me but I'm sure there's a well thought out rationale. Maybe it's because they are playing as part of an attacking midfield three rather than as out & out wingers.

It'll be interesting to see how we set up for this one. I suspect The O's will sit back for a draw and see that as a good point given there fairly wretched form looking at the stats from @Bigrod@Bigrod
I'd prefer to see Rowe start simply because he likes to come deep and also seem to be comfortable playing on either wing. That may help stretch a resolute defence enough to allow other players in

Oh yes, agree, not chucking him under the bus! I'm not sure what his "thing" is? What is he good at? Is it beating a man down the touchline or getting a cross into the box or summat else?

I think I'm right in saying that when he broke into the FGR side, it was as a central midfielder, and Bielsa looked to convert him to a wide player. Like you though, I'm not sure what he's strengths are.

On the evidence of the Exeter game, tracking back wasn't one of them. He was a bit better at that at Cheltenham, I'm glad to say.

He also put in a really good sliding tackle in the dying minutes of the Morecambe game too

Clearly doesn't "honour his defensive duties" as that guy on Radio Leeds is fond of saying.

Think that was a big learning curve for him. Certainly seemed more aware when he came on in subsequent games.

I would have liked to have seen that but obviously not many of us did. Like I said maybe he's one of those players who just looks a it disinterested by his demeanor.

I'm thinking of recreating my midweek matchday experience tomorrow. I'm going to get fish and chips, park on the drive (instead of Queens Road), eat my fish and chips in the car listening to the build up on the radio (unless its on fecking MW). Then I'll dash into the house, give the wife 3 quid for a paper cup of crap coffee and settle down to watch the match on ifollow. Obviously when I go for a pee at half time I will only use the cold tap when washing my hands. Bring it on!
