Donaldson needs to retire and suspect he will at the end of the season. So slow, clumsy and agricultural, our few breakaways invariably grind to a halt when he is involved. we are really missing Novak who gives us that bit more as a target and gets in amongst the goals more. Still, for all his weaknesses Donaldson didn’t ship those soft goals.

 

Delighted with a point after that. Exeter were the better side for me, aside from a 10 minute spell after we scored the opener. Aside from the two goals we didn't work the keeper anywhere near enough. Lots of huff and puff stuff and got into some decent areas but lacked quality in the final ball.

Defensively a horror show in the first half. Second was better but we are still too slow to close opponents down and put a foot in. With better finishing Exeter should've been out of sight.

 

Should have been cut out before it got anywhere near Staunton.

 

That's what I look for in a striker.

Can he defend a corner.

 

Great corner don't you mean? That doesn't mean its a lucky goal seeing as Staunton had to get in front of their player to side foot the ball in.

Well let me put it like this. It was a rubbish corner that any decent defence would have cleared. They weren't a decent defence so we scored.

 

First half French was drawn upfield time and time again with the ball then played in to the space behind him as he struggled to get back, We were lucky we only conceded two in first half, Second half was much better after I suspect Stuart had a word,
Happened a few times the same with Wood which led to their first goal but he tightened up after, It is one of the weaknesses of playing 3 at the back that teams will try get behind the wing backs which leaves the defence really exposed

You have just described the way the vast majority of goals are scored, defences not clearing the ball. Like I said nothing lucky about it at all.

Tpyical McCall team. Tonbridge at the back Brazil going forward. Think we will edge playoffs if we can get a couple of decent bodies in either the free agents market or January. Exeter are a good side and today showed we are definitely starting to turn a corner.
