We just need to sort out our defence, far too soft at the moment.

 

Games like this show how badly we miss a combative, leader in midfield. Both to protect the defence and give the bollockings needed during the game

He gets defensive very quickly. He has no moderation in his comments at all. Either full on angry or full on happy. Plus he just says the first thing that comes into his head whihh isn't always even half of a good comment.

 

Totally agree Park. Made some intelligent runs all afternoon, held the ball up, played Samuels and others in and most of the second half had Rory in his pocket. For me one of his good games in addition to two great clearances first half.

 

Didn't really have McArdle in his pocket but he did alright second half with Samuels allowing him a bit more space. Non existent goal threat though which, along with our fundamentally dodgy defence, is a reason why this squad looks nailed on mid table. We move the ball well at times but those defiencies will only be turned around with better players.

 

We scored two good goals and in Clarke have a player that can open up defences, Our problem continues with a soft defence, Get that sorted and we will win games

 

Delighted with a point after that. Exeter were the better side for me, aside from a 10 minute spell after we scored the opener. Aside from the two goals we didn't work the keeper anywhere near enough. Lots of huff and puff stuff and got into some decent areas but lacked quality in the final ball.

Defensively a horror show in the first half. Second was better but we are still too slow to close opponents down and put a foot in. With better finishing Exeter should've been out of sight.

 

Tpyical McCall team. Tonbridge at the back Brazil going forward. Think we will edge playoffs if we can get a couple of decent bodies in either the free agents market or January. Exeter are a good side and today showed we are definitely starting to turn a corner.

 

I think you're right I thought of the two second half Rory was struggling at times and fouled him to stop him as he came into the game far more, ironically there was only two fouls according to the BBC website all the first half.
I thought the first 9 minutes Exeter were by far the better team which you would expect from a team on a run like theirs, we scored a great goal against the run of play and I thought the next 10 minutes we more than matched them until Watts poor defending, their tails went up and they had us on the rack until the inevitable the second goal was conceded, our second was amateur defending, half time 2 - 2 they shaded it but always looked capable of adding to their goal tally.
For me second half was pretty even, not disappointed with the result another game were we could take a few positives but we do look susceptible at the back, some posted they thought French was poor where as I thought more attacking options came from his side, this isn't a criticism but Woody as yet hasn't hit the consistency of last season so lets get the our injured players back and see where we go.

 

Thats a pretty fair write up. We didn't do enough to win today and they were on balance probably the better side over the ninety minutes. But there are positives, especially the spell before their first goal where we were ripping them to bits. Just hamstrung by a defence that always looks like it has a couple of mistakes in it and a strike force that isn't potent enough. A shame we couldn't have got to their two central defenders who looked susceptible to pace. Something we don't have.

 

Did you say Cooke was poor first half? Our best player by far first half. What game were you watching?

Can't disagree. Some seem to have given up on this season already. Ridiculous considering we are only 10 weeks into the season.

Exeter should be beatable, you all saw how bad Southend are yet it took a stoppage time goal by Exeter to get a 2-2 draw. Unbeaten away but mainly draws,let’s have a real go at them and see them off.
