Dive my arse and what about when Oteh was through and was clearly dragged back and got nothing was that lucky

 

As with most teams we've faced in this poor league this season I think we'd be disappointed if, at the end of the season, we finished below Cheltenham.

 

He was running to a dead end and threw himself down. Clever work but still a dive. I know a dive when I see one Park I was a serial diver myself when I played, it's a classic move.

I agree, there is no point in having creative players and giving them their head at this stage of the season. We are at the business end of the season and we need points. You stifle creative players and they lose confidence and then can’t score when they do get a chance. I tell you we need a really good midfielder with loads of experience and the ability to run the midfield and the game tbh.

 

Without doubt Devitt let Bowyer the club and fans down last night but most of all himself with that second challenge, that was the deciding factor in last nights game, we can't start naming Saturdays team as there could be a few new faces although Oldham got a good result last night we needs the 3 points come 5 pm.

 

Northampton relied a lot on his long throws in the play off final.

 

On a positive note, at least we know Devitt's injury hasn't limited athletically with the way he slid in to those challenges

 

And one that every right minded player does when three defender converge on him in the penalty box, you even say that you did it, but McCartan shouldn't ?.

 

I'm not saying he shouldn't. It was Park who was stating it wasn't a dive when it clearly was. That's what I was disputing not his decision to go down. I'm a win at all costs merchant fair or unfair I don't care. Got lucky that the ref bought it.

 

If McCartan dives and it is a lucky pen then hey ho. The same error prone referees giving that decision will give penalties against us too at some point that will level that 'luck' out over the course of the season.

in reality there is no such thing as 'luck'.

xG is the best measure to use to put the actual real life results into context and see if they are deserved, not nit picking subjective moments out of matches and debating whether the decisions were deserved or not.

 

It looked a clear penalty to me as for hitting the post Taylor cracked one of the crossbart at Colchester that would have given us two more points Vaughan hit the bar against Scunthorpe which would have made us unassailable these things even themselves out but losing the amount of players to injury we have this season leaves us in deficit. Had we had Donaldson all season I am sure we would have had more goals and therefore points

 

It is frustrating because we have been calling for commitment from the players. We got it last night but, in the case of Devitt, he was rather over enthusiastic and got two early yellows for his endeavours. At least he'll only miss one game. We need him and Cooke in the middle as both are willing to push on rather than slowing the play down as others do.

 

Anyone suggesting anything other than last night was a complete mess by GB wants their head read.

We've seen plenty of teams, including ourselves go down to 10 men before but never have we seen possession statistics like those. We've also seen 10 men attack, score goals and indeed play full parts in a game.

Yes we nearly got away with it but if we'd have gone 4 4 1 or similar and actually tried to compete, AT HOME, TO CHELTENHAM, perhaps we'd have come away with more than just a very lucky point.

 

To be fair, I do agree that these things even themselves and that is one of the reasons why I have been concerned by the 'results matter more than performances' idea.

I don't know where you sit but from what I saw and watching again, I would have been livid had that been awarded against us.

Seems to me some are just please we didn't lose because they know we are sh&te.

 

Had another look and Cheltenham's number 21 Doyle-Hayes has his hands all over McCartan both outside and inside the box.
