I love listening to him. He has that aura, gravitas and clarity of communicating that I imagine players respond really well to.

 

Very lucky to have him he just talks sense.

 

And its all very balanced. For example his point around going direct resulting in not getting bodies forward to support the striker. We've seen it all season and its so obvious. His way of communicating his approach for how to develop the team just makes sense. Its proper coaching by someone who's done it at the highest level. He's not fazed by anything here, nor should he be given his pedigree.

I just hope we have plans to back him properly this summer.

 

Very early days but first impressions are pointing towards him looking a very good fit for us, time will tell obviously. It would be interesting to hear his views on our horrendous injuries this season and weather or not it could be put it down to previous training methods or just simply bad luck. Being the proffesional he is though he would probably say bad luck regardless of what he really thought. Onto the game would like to see Walker get more time but will probably start with the same team and not rush him back.

 

just how many times did he quietly comment on the quality of players, in a positive way, and generally be positive about the team? Talk about changing the feel of the place.

 

I went on CTC 73 coaches a few times , don’t recall a train though. Dire place in those days, mind you that went for most grounds outside L1/2.

Agree, doesn’t he talk a lot of sense. A breath of fresh air compared to the last 18 months!

 

Its a question of manageability though. You sign players with a persistent tendency to get the same injury through the seasons, doesn’t help, Angol case in point, linked with potentially inappropriate training then yes it’s more than bad luck. Remember, Adams was a “stamina” man, he had less regard for technical aspects of the game. Injury prone players run into the ground will get ……..injured more often. That’s just common sense..

Hughes will be more technical, as is plain to see. It’s up to him and Hodges to get the right balance!

And that could be the downside if Hughes does well every time a bigger club is looking for a new manager there will be speculation

Travelled all over with CTC73 back in the 70's. I remember going to Hartlepool a few days before the trip to Norwich in the cup in 1976. I remember being surrounded by the Monkey Hangers as they threatened us all game what they were going to do to us after the match. The police made sure the coach picked us up right outside the exit after ushering away the Monkey Hangers.

 

Once went midweek game in a 3 wheeler with my dad and his mate ,it was that foggy coming back we took 5 hours to get back , my mum went mad when we got back ,I went to bed my dad went straight to work ,he was a postman

 

Oh yes I did, all over the country, I was referring to visiting Hartlepools “ a few times”.

 

Absolutely as sure as eggs is eggs. I’ll worry about that when we are doing well enough, to see the speculation?

To be fair Park, a manager at a club more than 2-3 seasons is a rarity , good or bad!
